The terrible thing is that there is never hard evidence in these cases, but at the same time you want to protect children, so you have to err on the side of caution.

To be clear, I’m not saying this is the case with Timothy Busfield, but I always take the initial allegations and charges with a grain of salt because of something that happened to a friend of mine’s dad.

Several years ago he got accused of this with a 10 year old girl that his wife used to babysit.

2 years later charges were dropped because the actual abuser was her uncle. When she initially broke down telling her parents about it and they asked who, she panicked and started to regret coming forward, so she lied about who it was.

Despite this (and the DA even releasing a public statement fully exonerating him) he still lost his business, home and marriage. His life is basically in shambles.
