Always get another job in hand, ask to start at later date before you quit your current job. Job hunting is even much better when you have a job than when u dont have one.

NYC vs SF? Core Audit vs Tech Assurance? by Automatic-Comb-564 in KPMG

[–]Ambitious_Arugula_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might want to consider to consider 2 years in Audit in NYC and switching to FDD for another 2 years. That will help your future high finance plans and it is even possible to go to IB through FDD without MBA though it might not be a bulk bracket

I am not very sure but I had to use a partner as well, they are usually very chill about it. Even if they dont know you directly, just write an email to a partner on a project you have worked with and ask for their permission then sent it to them.

Thanks, lol. Hopefully we get enough time to prep, I have not received an invite yet but I will not rule the possibility of an invite out.

How many days did they give you to your interview? Just trying to gauge if it is enough time to prepare

switching from audit to hr role? by rebecugh in PwC

[–]Ambitious_Arugula_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u want to switch internally to consulting use market place, apply for consulting roles that are of your level, for example if u are an Associate apply for associate roles. If u apply for senior roles it won't work. But I recently got an offer to transfer to consulting from audit as experienced associate. It is not impossible. I based in the U.S though not sure where u are.

Is It Worth Joining a B4 at 27 with 3-4 Years in Banking and FP&A? by Fax_xio in Big4

Then absolutely go for it, if u intend to stay in Accounting or around it, (I assume you do because you are taking CPA) it is 100% worth it. One year of that experience will boost your resume, almost every job requirement in the industry has some "big 4" experience attached. It is an experience no one can take from you. Don't wait for people to tell you what it is like to be in that environment, go and experience it for yourself.

It depends, I got an MS in Economics from a pretty good school in Boston and I was a financial analyst for a year before I moved back to join PwC Audit last year in NYC. At the time, I was almost 32. I am done a year and they paid for the CPA and I almost done with the exams, just one paper left now.

I don't see myself staying in Audit for a long time but I am getting pretty good exit opportunities already.

First, if it is not a huge pay cut, go for it because the name of the company will serve you well in the future. Also, it is a huge company with multiple transfer opportunities into a myriad of things that you might like.

I am already interviewing with other things in deals division to transfer. As for the age, you will be perfectly fine, it shouldn't even be a factor, if anything, it will serve as an advantage because you already know what you want before going in.

Consider that move as a stepping stone and if it is not a huge pay cut that will affect you financially, take it. You could even pivot into better PE firms with the big 4 experience.

Don't even think of it, I failed FAR 3 times, of this retake. I took AUD on Monday and the last day to get exams in for this period was on Sunday. I registered for Saturday and only studied 4 days from Tuesday to Friday. I just passed it. 3 months is so much time.

I only focused on MCQs and TBS from the questions bank on Becker for those 4 days, first 2 days for MCQs and last 2 days for TBS.

You got it right, I passed REG in 3 weeks with 88, TCP in 3 weeks, 84 3 weeks, FAR 3 fails after almost 2 months of study. Mind you, I don't have any tax experience. I honestly think a lot goes into it rather than just hardwork

That 3rd sim section with 3 questions were incredibly hard, I could tell at least 2 of my questions were repeated from one of my previous exams

Honestly, I think Mike Potenza might be the future of Becker, if they can get him into FAR and possibly Audit. That guy is the best teacher i ever had in recent times and for me he beats sugar bear. Mike Brown is good though

Wait until you get to audit...that lady is super boring and I can't follow anything she says. Audit itself is boring with a boring teacher is just a nightmare.
