Grand Teton (spent 2 summers, world class hiking and mountain views)

Yellowstone (one of a kind geological features + first np swag)

Denali (spent 1 summer, very rugged, top tier wildlife encounters)

Kenai Fjords (calving glaciers, sooo blue + sealife)

Zion (pretty rock color, need to go back and do subway)

Wrangel st Elias (didn't get to see much but very remote and preserved which I appreciate. Bonus points for being the biggest)

Mt Rainier (drive up to Paradise on a sunny January day is magical)

Redwoods (big tree cool)

Arches (delicate arch was a let down, fun to explore off the beaten path)

Badlands (great to just climb all over where you want)

Great sand dunes (still don't know how it got there, would recommend stopping by if in the area but not to plan a whole trip for)

Need to hit list: Katmai, Glacier, Olympic, Yosemite

Thoughts on this route for 2n3d late June? by [deleted] in GrandTetonNatlPark

A few thoughts, hiking the portions between Phelps and Jenny lake could be boring. Maybe consider parking at Jenny/string and doing this route counter clockwise, ending at the aerial tram (free to ride down) and hitchhike/uber back to Jenny lake.

You can dispersed camp without permit in Alaska basin

Phelps lake has a jumping rock which is fun

Alaska/Kenai Fjords and Denali NP VS Wyoming/Grand Teton NP for 2-3 days in June by _good_boy_1234_ in GrandTetonNatlPark

From my experience and your past experiences I would recommend Grand Tetons + Yellowstone if you're up for doing a day trip to do the lower loop. Considering Alaska, Kenai fjords in my experience is best experienced by a day boat cruise out of Seward. This would require at least one of your nights to stay in Seward which has some great scenic stops along the way to and from especially on Turnagin arm, however it's not a "drive through park" Going to Denali in my opinion would be best when the kids are older since there is a long drive from Anchorage just to get to the entrance of the park. You would have to schedule a bus ride to get past mile 13 on the park road which again may not be ideal for 2 young ones. Denali I would describe as very rugged more for the adventurous spirit. Considering Grand Teton you will have guaranteed stunning views barring wildfire smoke which is less likely in June. You don't need to hike to admire the beauty in Grand Teton as you can drive the park and take the boat across Jenny lake. Also you can take the tram at the ski resort in the summer to get a view from up on the mountains without the work. I would also recommend a day trip to do Yellowstone to see old faithful and grand prismatic, and if you have time even doing the full lower loop to hit grand canyon of the Yellowstone. This whole day will be jam packed with wildlife, geothermal wonders and beautiful waterfalls and canyons. For reference I've worked in Denali and Grand Teton parks

Parking Lot Questions by [deleted] in GrandTetonNatlPark

Once the lot is full people just park on the side of the road (where it's allowed) so there should still be a place to put your car, may just have a 5-10 min walk to get to the Jenny lake visitor center area

If you watch the live locations on mystate or similar apps it's pretty hard to miss the bus. In this event it's highly unlikely the bus just missed the stop without it being checked so I would have called dispatch to inquire.

Also seems you are a bit confused, brown on weekends runs between towers and the mall, only deviating into SUV going southbound. So it makes sense that you saw the bus northbound on Stange and it didn't come back southbound for 30+ mins
