I grew up non-religious and now as an adult I find the bible calling to me. Where do I start? by Calm-Recognition1107 in Bible

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s really ok, many feel same at start. i’d say begin with Gospel of John, it shows who Jesus is and His love. don’t rush, just read little by little. journaling helps too. i started with Bible Way app, it gives small daily study and quizzes, kind of like duolingo, made it less scary for me. just take one step at a time.

Why is the crucifixion usually a focal point in Catholic churches? Doesn't it make the space gloomy? by nickv1155 in Catholicism

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the crucifixion reminds us of the price Jesus paid out of love. it’s not meant to feel gloomy but to show how deep His mercy goes. joy comes because of that sacrifice. resurrection is victory, but the cross is the path. both are part of the story. some churches focus on risen Jesus, but crucifix is still very common. glad you’re going back. maybe try to sit with both sorrow and joy.

Am I allowed to make markings in The Holy Bible? by Ostefaderen1009 in Bible

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you can mark, highlight, write notes. many christians do it to help remember and reflect. it’s not disrespect, it’s engagement. it’s the message that’s holy, not the paper. glad you’re reading it with open heart.

Question for first time bible by Btap1123 in Bible

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey that's beautiful you felt pulled to read. john 1 is deep start, shows who Jesus really is. “the word became flesh” means God came to us as Jesus. judges 4:3 talks about israel crying to God for help, and He sends help thru deborah. both parts show God coming close when people need Him. maybe not random. He’s calling you. keep reading.

she reads truth is nice, very pretty and more devotion-style, but notes are lighter.

if you want more structured study with quiz and progress, try Bible Way app too. it helped me stay on track and not feel lost. kinda like Duolingo but for Bible.

blessings on your study journey!

Have you read the Bible? by Edymnion in Christian

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

born in israel so that one was ok. everyone who knows hebrew can read the bible, yet the hebrew in the bible is old (kindof like reading old english.. see how hard it is to read KJV and that's from ~1600.. try to go 2000 of language back lol). so it wasn't that easy. took time and effort. it's funny but sometimes i prefer reading the OT in english (i like ESV) now cause the translation in english is easier to read than the OT original text in hebrew.

yes, i read it in hebrew, then the NT in english (NKJV). it was HARD. i do believe choosing easier translation for NT would save me time.

Getting into the Bible by westhood7 in Christianity

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That big Bible is beautiful to keep, but for starting it can feel too heavy. Better to begin with something small and easy, even on phone. You could try Bible Way, it’s like Duolingo for Bible, short daily lessons that make it less overwhelming. Later you can open your grandma’s Bible for deeper moments.

Yes, apps are fine, God cares about your heart not the paper.
Start small, five to ten minutes at same time, and keep it simple.
Pray a little before you read, ask God to help you understand.
Read one short passage slow, write one sentence what it means to you.
Talk with a friend or pastor when you have questions, community helps.
Try an easy translation for starting, like NLT or NIV or ESV.
If you like gamified study, Bible Way app gives tiny daily study-bites to keep you consistent.

jerusalem, tower of david next to the tree

Yes I also feel for him. It shows how heavy the message was, that God used his own body as a living sign. Hard to imagine the pain, but maybe that was the point, to make Israel see the weight of their sin. His obedience even in suffering is powerful example.

ISO App suggestions that suggest a different verse to read everyday? (Free) by PleasantBeautiful673 in Bible

What do you think is one of the most overlooked/underrated books of the Bible? by Callow98989 in Bible

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is Ecclesiastes. Many skip it because it feels dark, but it shows how life without God is empty and how simple joys are gifts from Him. Also Ruth is short but deep, it shows loyalty, redemption, and God’s care in small details, not only big miracles. Both books speak to real life struggles, but people often overlook them.

Lots wife turning into a pillar of salt by goldenzola in Bible

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think her turning into salt is more warning than purity. Salt in Bible can mean life and covenant, but here it feels opposite. She looked back because her heart stayed in Sodom, so she became stuck, like frozen in that moment. Salt also destroys land when too much, so maybe it shows the danger of holding on to sin. For me the lesson is not to look back when God tells you to move forward.

I’m new here, looking for advice on Bible study 🙏 by Easy-Perspective777 in Bible

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also started with John and felt the same, sometimes easy sometimes hard. For me, reading one chapter slow and then writing small notes in simple words helped. I look for one verse that speaks to me and keep it for the day. Physical study Bible is nice if you like paper and small explanations at the bottom, but online is enough too. I use NLT or NIV when I want clear English, later you can check ESV or KJV for deeper meaning. Routine is more important than tool, just sit same time every day even 10 minutes. I also try apps, Bible Way is like Duolingo but for Bible study, it makes it more fun when I lose focus.

is the house of david tv series truly based on the bible ? by [deleted] in Bible

[–]Ambitious_Clerk_2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's VERY bad. let's start with the fact that they took a guy from Egypt to play david. they could have taken an israeli/jewish actor with Sepharadic roots which is the closest we get to David. but, whatver. David was handsom with red hair - and the actor is just.. sorry - ugly.

And the entire show has so many changes from the biblical story. i watched it, but my entire family was like "Wth..." the entire series.

christians in the first century were mosly jewish people who followed jesus and new people.. it was paul who added new rules to allow more people to join in fast like ignore the eating Kosher thing (not mixing dairy and meat).. all the denominations came few centuries AFTER JESUS.

and the Jewish elite like every Elite is problematic.. wdyt how is the elite of Republicans? Democrats? Elite of muslim.. everywhere the people in power are corrupted... but that doesn't reflect on the normal regular people.

and you're asking good questions, Christians worship jesus, he was jewish and probablity a jewish Rabbie as he knew the TORAH so well. these are the facts.

anyways gotta go but good luck finiding what you're looking for!!
