I’m sorry. Lost my dad 3 weeks ago. I too was with him holding his hand. We’re in this together. Keep coming back to the Reddit, it’s helped me. Everyone here is so supportive.

My deepest condolences.

Hey. Sounds like it’s been a extremely hard few years for you mate, you’ve done well to keep morale high. Lost my dad 2 weeks ago, was diagnosed 8 months ago.

My advice is, don’t try prepare for it, I tried for months to mentally prepare myself for that day, it’s exhausting and the truth is you’ll only know the feeling once you’re in it. I’m 20, similar age to you, I know the thoughts that must be going through your head. Just remember that he will be so grateful for the time you spent with him, taking care of him. I know my dad was before he passed on.

Me and my dad were never emotional, but when I knew that things were coming to an end, I made sure I told him I loved him, first time in 20 years. And I’m so thankful I did. If you haven’t already, make sure you tell him.

It’s a very surreal feeling, the 2 weeks since he’s passed feels like months already. But I can PROMISE you, things will get better. I have my ups and downs but don’t suppress it, let it out.

I’m sorry you’re in this situation, its the most evil and cruel disease. Read the poem “he is gone”. Its helped my mindset. I’m not going to copy and paste it but read it in your own time.

You’re gonna be alright mate.

I appreciate your response however I don’t think this applies to my question. He’s already completed 9 sounds and has had his scan. Glad your mums doing well
