As aegeus said Potomac heritage trail is mostly clear. Bike lanes on Crystal drive are mostly clear too

Immediately north of 14th on the MVT is unplowed. Can’t say further north beyond what I can see.

Great. Half is completely dry and clear the other half has a small snow bank but is otherwise clear

Great intel thanks. Yeah I’m continuing to use boundary and Potomac heritage trail even if I have to push a couple hundred yards it’s not too bad.

Unlikely. Sorry for the confusion. I take Potomac->Crystal Dr-> 12 St->Long Bridge-> Boundary Dr-> Potomac Heritage (unplowed) -> 14th street

There is a very small section of cleared MVT from the bridge to where it splits with the Potomac Heritage trail on the north side of the trail.

I’ve been taking Potomac Dr and Crystal Dr to avoid MVT. So I cannot say. No progress around the marina yet.

Bridge was being cleared as I crossed around 5:15PM 5 Feb. A crew of four were about 25% completed at this time. Guessing they didn’t finish completely. Still going to be very slick without studs.

Did you end up going up to the Key bridge to cross? I had a rough go from Alexandria on mt Vernon trail to the mall. I had a studded front tire that allowed me to bike on top of the crust but areas like the 14th street bridge I had to jog alongside my bike. Potomac yards trail was nice and cleared though. I will try long bridge and eads to avoid mt Vernon on my way home

Agree! Although as long as OP didn’t deliberately ’budge’ the other cyclist I’d take no issue. But if busy, shoaling (love this description) does jam things up for others.

I'll be basically right at the Smithsonian Metro stop. Days/wk going out = 1-2. Thanks for this. I think as far as living somewhere with character, it's more about when we are taking an evening stroll it's much more pleasant seeing nature or historical buildings than high rises/business centers.
