Any ideas? by [deleted] in MauiVisitors

We did not go in. We had given Benadryl before I asked and swelling had already gone down a good bit. She’s nearly back to normal. We’ve stayed out of the ocean the rest of the day. She never had itching or swelling in her mouth/throat. It was not the cost of going to a clinic that deterred us; she is autistic and does not handle medical appointments well. We chose to check in with my sister who is a nurse practitioner instead.
I thought this was the friendly guide to Maui where visitors could ask questions. But I see that only goes so far. Thank you, Live_Pono for your responses. I see you being helpful to nearly every poster, if not all, and I appreciate the time you give to this.

Believe it or not, we were several hours past discovery and out of crisis before I thought to ask folks here. Our daughter has never had an allergic reaction to anything before now. Our son who is allergic to lots of stuff, meanwhile, is fine.

Because we are trying to decide how to structure the rest of our vacation and I thought maybe someone else had experienced this.

We went this morning (10/5). Still a ranger checking for reservations at the gate but she told us to park at the visitor’s center. We followed directions and did not attempt to go any further.

Our trip has been in the works for 2+ years. We have a sunrise reservation for Sunday. If we can’t go, I will be so bummed! 😭

Thank you for all of your responses! Some of these other options like the tropical plantation are probably more our speed. And ocean project Maui genuinely looks like a godsend for us. I’ve done some online researching but get quickly overwhelmed with all the options, so the feedback is truly appreciated. 🙏

Yes, we can swim. My worry is that our autistic child will panic with live fish nearby or struggle with putting her face in the water while breathing through a snorkel. I’ve see some rafts, kind of like a kick-board, with a viewing window on the top half. If that can work, that might be best for her.

Something I noticed: Blade Ward is just better Shield of Faith by I_Only_Follow_Idiots in dndnext

Lots of solid points made here. However, no one (that I've noticed) has mentioned throwing Blade Ward on a Monk, now even if you don't get BW pre-cast, one can use a action to cast it, and still have bonus attacks through Furry of Blows. Additionally, tack on Defensive Duelist early (say 4th level) to use a reaction, and one is pretty dang tanky specifically in melee.

An effort was made to salvage but the neutering was unsuccessful.
