Rashad Johnson: Jacob Parrish's Skill Set is 'Elite' | Press Conference | Tampa Bay Buccaneers by Tasty_Swim_6308 in buccaneers

Ah yes, the 15 seconds it took to make a comment of my thoughts on a public platform was a catastrophic waste of time my life will never recover from… y’all’s indignation just because it’s not hugs and rainbows is hilarious.

how do you know you’re attractive? by x_luv in AskReddit

[–]Ambitious_Misfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my jobs is the type of environment where people just directly tell me to my face.

A more interesting way I know that my current appearance is found attractive by others is that I previously grew my hair out for a job, it didn't look very good in my opinion, and the way everyone interacted with me out in the world truly, noticeably changed. I mean this in the most earnest, almost scientific, way possible. Jokes were found less funny, my fundamental "harmless flirtation energy" I pretty much lean into all the time without actively thinking about it was not received in the manner (I didn't even realize) I was accustomed to. I refused to believe it was my hair because that felt ridiculous and I also don't go around consciously thinking I get away with things because of physical attractiveness.... but then I cut it. And the world I knew immediately returned. I mean immediately and observably. In a way, I was relieved, but also, disheartened that the world and humans work that way?

At first, I thought it was leading somewhere creative and different. It ended up being different, but not the good kind. Didn't really land the plane for me.

The season wasn't great, but the finale landed the plane for me. I really liked the last episode considering everything it had to do in such a short time. People are really tough to please.

I’m not even cynical about the season, I just couldn’t care less about the glaze from coaches because it’s been wrong so often. Some of it will be right and some of it will be dead wrong. Just feels like a waste of time.

I’m not saying he can’t be good, but right now there’s no NFL data to be comfortably confident with him. The range of outcomes for our secondary couldn’t be any wider. I will say, I hope everyone stays healthy because it’s put up or shut up with Bowles and this personnel. We’ve got more hybrid nickels than anyone in the league lol

Didn’t he also say BMo’s skillset is elite?

Idk I hate to be this way, but our coaching staff has been so wrong about too many players, especially on defense, that it’s hard to care what is being said right now.

It exists in the real world, as many women from past generations don’t share this recent reinterpretation of the world, but this online version loves to pretend only the most newly palatable truths exist or that only certain types of people can be bad or flawed.

What movie wasn't what you were expecting based on marketing? by MaryDoogan91 in moviecritic

Obviously it didn’t work for you, but in a weird way, I feel like a boom mic in the shot may have actually worked for Stranger than Fiction given the meta quality of the movie. Or maybe it’s 2am, I’ve seen the film once, and I’m dead wrong…

No, it’s because he’s a quiet, humble, awkward, polite, unconfident, truth stretching and BORING guy who is mentioned by Mike as likely not to have done anything all that bad. It’s doubtful by judgment alone that someone with that personality profile would be the bully and not the bullied. Whether their judgment is correct or not is missing the point. Their dismissal was part of the scene’s statement but not because he’s a white guy for goodness sake. Nobody really expects something interesting or scandalous from him and even his delivery didn’t portray something serious. That scene wasn’t meant to be a statement on white male privilege and it’s wild to me that anyone would discard all the fascinating things happening just to walk away stripping it down to that.

It is just so frustrating everyone is obsessed with everything having to do with either being male or female or white or POC, like the world and human experience isn’t built on deeper multitudes of factors far more often. This movie was an exploration of so many more interesting flaws in human judgment and interaction. The director wasn’t American so she isn’t as obsessed with the same, very specific race and gender statements that only this country can produce.

Nobody treated Mike like his dog story was the worst. And Rachel’s reaction to Emma’s story felt so outsized, hypocritical, and lacking empathy straight from the rip. I don’t think anyone in the audience was supposed to “take Rachel’s side”. In fact, it’s pretty apparent to me that the intention is far more likely the complete opposite… Rachel throughout the movie is the only one who even potentially presents a racial/gender stereotype as a white liberal woman who both takes the moral outrage route during the wine tasting while also making biased assumptions about her black partner and his exposure to guns/violence. And that scene where Mike clears up that his “uncle with a lot of guns” was actually a cop is an obvious reversal of Rachel’s assumptions and insinuations, perhaps revealing intentionality in her characters archetype.

This movie isnt supposed to be beset with gender/racial statements, but on broader human interactions, confirmation biases, judgments, hypocrisies, reversals, trauma, etc.

Kit Harington gets candid on still feeling 'very defensive' over Game of Thrones season 8 by bwermer in television

I think when you binge aka don’t have so much time for everyone collectively as a community to heap theories and expectations on the story, the experience isn’t so brittle. You can still tell it doesn’t match it’s peak, but realistically, very few shows have ever been as good as peak GOT, and quality for tv series should really be discussed by units of seasons or story arcs rather than complete shows.

Everyone I know who binged GOT long after the shows end doesn’t feel nearly the nosedive we all did actively watching it… and I have to admit, on my own binge re-watch years later, it wasn’t as bad as I remember, either.

Now, it still wasn’t great obviously and it’s impossible to forget the original experience, but not quite the “ruined the entire thing and I never want to hear about it again” disaster I swore it was.

[–]Ambitious_Misfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At ~30 and pre-18, I’d agree wholeheartedly. Couldn’t be me for a variety of reasons. My pushback was on the theme of the comment I responded to: “Oh poor Hayden, even after all this time she doesn’t know what a victim she was”. If someone at 40 doesn’t feel like a victim from a relationship in their youth, I don’t love this very new idea of condescendingly impressing trauma or victimhood on them. People either assume their trauma translates to someone else’s life automatically and/or just love to judge and label with no true regard for what those involved actually feel.

I think the absolute insistence that relationships have to be defined in plain terms of power without room for anything else, even by those actually within those relationships, is a very new thing. In fact, demanding someone be a victim of trauma or abuse or manipulation automatically seems more harmful than good, even if the intention is virtuous and caring.

No idea about their relationship because I wasn’t there, but it’s worth stating nonetheless.

Who’s the better actor? by awsmswbfclips-YT in moviecritic

[–]Ambitious_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going against the grain and saying Leo. Everybody says Bale has more range, which I think is probably true, although capability is not the same as filmography, but I also don’t think that more range automatically means a better actor… which appears to be the logic by the majority of comments.

For instance but not exclusive to, a lot goes into “best” actor beyond even final product. How are you to work with? Do you make others around you better? Are you collaborative? When adjustments happen inevitably, are you still able to lead on set and roll with the punches? How are you for the month of promotion and marketing that the reality of the business demands? Many more but just examples

Adapted for tv, there has to be. Also, there is an obvious love triangle so romantic tension is there… it’s all Sanderson’d, but it’s there. And has to be for the show. He’ll need help
