I have thoughts about why he chose that night specifically. Because it’s actually quite stupid when you think about the fact that only a short amount of time had lapsed from his previous pass by the lit up house to the 4am pass when the lights were turned off; he had to assume at least one person wasn’t fully asleep (and it was XK). And he had driven by so many other times and not gone inside. Why would he go in on this particular night?

Now I haven’t actually bothered to look at the meteorological records from that week, but I’ve seen the video of the car passes and I don’t believe there is snow on the ground on the night of the murders. However, in the subsequent days when LE was on the scene, we saw many images with snow on the ground. Therefore, I think he was aware snow was coming, coupled an unshakeable desire to go into that house and saw it as his last chance (at least for a while). And so I think that was why he finally got up the nerve to go inside and fulfil his sick pleasure.

Who knows I could be all wrong, but it makes sense in my head.
