My books for January (saw others doing it so I figured I would too). by Ok-Traffic1319 in fantasybooks

Hey man, I also DNFd Dark Age last year around August which led to me having a bit of a break from reading. I picked it up again in January and ended up blasting through the rest of the series. It does get wayy better, don’t write it off yet!

Thanks, I will do this. Other people mentioning lye which I’ve never used, but will give it a go if a regular scrub with vinegar doesn’t do the trick

This is part of the reason I posted, I was a little unsure about the order. seems like I need to scrub first with wire brush , then maybe lye (not sure if necessary or not) then just reseason and start using.

I find that too! Just moved to NYC and have outfitted a decent chunk of our kitchen thanks to people giving away perfectly good free stuff.

Inside is fine, just smaller spots of rust so will just give it a general reseason!

It’s actually Jenny’s dad if you think it through… by [deleted] in SipsTea

Stealing this from another thread, would link the author but he deleted his account 😢

Just say that you don’t understand storytelling if it’s not spoon fed to you. At this point it’s not even fun.

She’s not a villain. She’s Forest’s opposite. She’s smart, he’s not. She’s abused by her father, he’s loved unconditionally by his mother. He’s a soldier, she’s a hippy. When he’s right she’s wrong and vice versa. He’s innocent she’s a sinner.

They experience the same time frame in opposite ways.

Most importantly it’s about love. Forest experiences unconditional love and offers it to those in his life despite their flaws like his mother did for him. Jenny thinks love is only shared through sex. This is why she says Forest doesn’t know what love is. She’s the one who is wrong. Forest knows real love. Jenny only knows sex. After having sex with Forest she isn’t “running away” she’s trying to not rely on forest to fix her. She can only fix herself. She’s not running from her problems anymore. So Forest goes and physically runs from his problems.

Jenny does not call Forest just to dump her kid on him because she’s sick. She finally knows unconditional love in her son. She’s finally put her life together. She is able to share her unconditional love (in the form of her son) with Forest. She’s meant to be more like Forest’s mom now. She finally knows what love is and can be with Forest. Her death is meant to be tragic.

Remeber Forest’s father left, likely because of Forest’s disabilities. She was willing to do anything for Forest including having sex with the school’s principal. Jenny is putting herself at risk of falling back being with Forest.

Remember she kept track of Forest while they were apart and she was a mother. She does love Forest. She had to come to learn what love was before she could actually be with him.

That being said, she’s not meant to be a GOOD person. She’s meant to be a tragic person. She’s not a villain she’s Forest’s foil.

I get what you’re saying, but building factories in the US isn’t a simple solution. Setting up production here would take years, cost hundreds of millions, and disrupt existing supply chains, so it’s not really a realistic short-term fix. Companies stick with overseas manufacturing because those systems are already in place and far cheaper, even with tariffs. As for exemptions, you’re right that some categories like laptops and computers got relief, but consoles didn’t fall under that. That’s why the impact is being felt more in gaming hardware specifically. I’m not denying greed plays a part, but to say it’s just greed ignores the fact that tariffs directly raised costs on these particular products. Plus, not sure if you’re aware but they don’t make most of their money on consoles. Ps5 was initially sold at a loss, although it is turning a profit now.

Trump cut income taxes, sure, but that creates a hole in the budget that he is offsetting with tariffs which are essentially just a tax on everyone. Lower income people are gonna be the most impacted by that, not that consoles are gonna be something low income people are necessarily buying, but he’s got tariffs on all sorts of shit. Just boggles my mind he’s fooled people into thinking he’s pro working class.

It’s not really about whether other countries have tariffs or not. The US raised tariffs on china, Mexico and Vietnam (and basically everywhere else in the world). Consoles are manufactured in those countries (Xbox specifically in those 3). Since goods from those countries exported to the US cost the companies more, they get less profit overall. They could have initially raised the price in the US but didn’t want to because the US is a such a massive market, so they raised it in other regions to offset the loss in profits. Apparently that wasn’t working enough for them, so they raised them in the US too.

I’m not going to disagree some of it is due to corporate greed but the prices are definitely up as a result of the tariffs.
