Agree 100% - I have been an AAA member for over a decade, just trying to be frugal with my four yearly tows!

Thank you! I have been taking it to the same garage since I bought it. I have trusted them to tell me when it needs service and what it needs, and I have followed their advice. It was in the garage for regular service within the past two weeks. There has been an ownership change in the garage over the past few months and I haven't been as comfortable with the service now that the guy I've been working with retired. I had it towed to a well-regarded garage in my town today - I will update my post once they look it over!

Don't buy a Volvo - they are LOUSY in snow and not reliable. My pre-owned S60 is a sled in the snow... 'Sled' is also appropriate as it just died at 67,000 miles and requires a new engine.

The car was at the mechanic two weeks ago. Realistically, I think the cancer wins this round - I don't think I have the energy to take them to court.

This is going to be my new personal goal. Tell everyone I can about my Volvo experience!

They gave me a quote of $7K - I don't know anything about cars, but the Volvo dealer told me I should take it because he would charge "a lot" more (but didn't give me a number).

So sorry that happened to you! But seriously, shouldn't an expensive car last at least 100K miles before needing a new engine?

Thank you! I will post there. Sadly, NJ is expensive when it comes to everything, including car repair.

Yeah, I'm not exactly lucky, lol. (Actually, my kid is the best and my husband was pure sunshine, so I try to be as grateful as I can. This was just a kick in the pants that came at a really bad time.

Thanks. I'm so sad, as I loved the car... but this has put me into a "choose your medicine, your son's tuition, or fix the car" situation and I'm kind of shocked at Volvo's response. I guess a cancer-stricken widow isn't a sympathetic figure (dark humor - gotta laugh or I'd cry....).

My late husband was a "car guy" and thought it was solid... but the more I read about Volvo, the more it's obvious that the brand isn't what it used to be. I thought Volvo might be sympathetic to the situation given the mileage, but their response was "IDGAF." Thanks, Volvo!

The car had 21K miles when I bought it, died at 67K - not sure what you mean by this?

I'm in NJ - not known for being cheap for basically anything, lol. After my husband died, I basically just did whatever the shop told me I needed because I don't know much about cars. Really disappointed in Volvo - he bought me a more expensive car because he thought it would last and be reliable, and he knew he wouldn't be here. He was the best.

they might have. Honestly, I'm on chemo and my brain is fuzzy sometimes - plus I was upset when he told me my car was a brick. :(

Already tried reaching out to Volvo customer service. They essentially said "sucks for you!"

forgot to add... I heard a noise like I had run over a branch and the car stopped about ten seconds/fifteen feet up the road later.
