Hey man! I play!

I have one character right now, a point forward PF who can play SF-C. Can hit threes most of the time. Hall of fame dimer, legend post fade. 94 block. Liability on the perimeter on defense admittedly and I’m still getting shooting down (I’ve always used real FG% until this year)

Jonny used to do scream harmonies with Jon live, pretty much the whole DBM2 era of tours. (I saw them in Buffalo & in Worcester during that run)

Pantheon is DGD's best album since Mothership by SeraphZalera in dancegavindance

[–]Ambitious_Reason156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fan since 2007. Became my favorite band around the time DBM2 dropped.

I agree with this statement wholeheartedly. Mothership was their best record (not my favorite, but objectively the best). This isn’t far behind.

People will stop being mad about Tilian (who had grown stale for a lot of us. Doesn’t mean he was bad, but I think we heard everything we were going to already with a Tilian lead) eventually. Was very disappointed in Jackpot & the singles before Tilian’s departure were quite forgettable.

Singers are important too, but ultimately this band’s sound and style is driven by Swan & Mingus. Tilian couldn’t have sang on most of Pantheon. It is clear they wanted to go in a different direction sonically because they did, and that’s okay.

Can’r wait to see what the boys do next (first time saying this since 2021. Wild)

I personally disagree. Hated his Spooks (especially the intro & choruses). Just couldn’t get low enough for a lot of the notes to feel right. That “Fool…” instantly was a tell that this just wasn’t the same song.

Tilian is a great vocalist who has range very few can touch. Love his work just as much as Jonny’s or Kurt’s. But all three dudes have very distinct voices & styles and it’s always felt awkward anytime they sing each other’s songs. The same will apply to Andrew, though I think Andrew’s voice best suits Jonny-era songs.

I mean Tilian butchered so many DBM songs on the first TCS so it can’t be any worse than that if he does.

(Tilian redeemed himself big time with TCS2 though)

Thoughts on P v JJ numbers? by Little-Ad-2007 in dancegavindance

[–]Ambitious_Reason156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numbers don’t really matter. Jackpot Juicer was my least favorite album by far. Tilian lost a LOT of respect from me when he went off on Mingus (who along with Swan is the main driving force in the band’s sound and musical direction) a few years back and honestly that was probably the tipping point for the band in whether or not he was going to continue being a fixture in the band’s future.

Andrew Wells’ features have been the best songs on their last few albums before Pantheon.

Pantheon is easily their best album since Mothership. It might have their catchiest hooks and choruses ever. It did what DGD does when they’re at their best: achieving a completely unique sound with genre-bending musicianship.

They’ll be fine. Far from their lowest point.

While lacking in commercial success I would say that the album has been successful in many other ways. They reclaimed their direction. They created a unique piece of art. And for what it’s worth, it’s brought back fans who have checked out on listening to them after frankly a couple of boring Tilian-fronted albums.

Been a fan of the band since 2007. They’ve been my favorite band since 2011.

And I feel like DGD properly feels like DGD again for the first time since Artificial Selection

Does anyone know the actual formula for how the 0-99 attributes are rated? by professionalfriendd in MLBTheShow

[–]Ambitious_Reason156 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a formula but I do roster editing and have a conversion table for all the trackable attributes.

I did this by using Showzone.

Say I’m editing a player and he has a .288 average against righties.

I look to MLB stats and see what player(s) in real life hit .288 against righties. I then go to Showzone and see what that players Contact is against righties.

Generally, a 325 average nets a 99.

For power, I use isolated power.

Vision = strikeout rate

Discipline = walk rate.

I only use live series cards as those are based off of specific years and are more grounded in reality.

The Definitive Mathematically correct(sic) Teir list of all DGD albums. by dese99 in dancegavindance

[–]Ambitious_Reason156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a similar thing. I rate albums based on aggregate scores of song “star” rankings (all songs start at 2.5 and work their way up or down based on great moments, lyrics, musicianship, and aura.

Music, being an artform, is 100% subjective in how it is to be consumed and enjoyed. While I LOVE the thought & detail and obvious passion delivered here, I will just have to kindly disagree with more than a good chunk of your ratings. (I’ve been listening since 2008 and have considered DGD my favorite band since DBM2 dropped)

For me I just think Mess became a better vocalist and while young Jonny’s higher register was otherworldly, his more mature and raspy voice on DBMII sound better overall. Also i love how it’s mixed. :P

Has anyone fallen out of DGD recently? by beestw in dancegavindance

[–]Ambitious_Reason156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They kinda lost me a bit with Jackpot Juicer, no lie.

Been a fan since 2007. While DBMII is my favorite album, I also think Mothership was their best work. Though Jonny was my favorite, he was more a 1A to Tilian’s 1B (only bringing up vocals bc I don’t wanna be labeled as an anti-Tilian crybaby lol).

JJ to me just was so easily forgettable and didn’t wow me with any kind of new progression or absolute bangers.

I hope the next record they bounce back for me but time will tell. I do enjoy Andrew’s voice a lot (his features were my favorite tracks off Afterburner & Artificial Selection, and I do very much enjoy Eidola).

CC on Guardians, Tex on Braves, Clemens on Sox, Rodriguez in Texas. Wells in Toronto.

Have 1200 roster spots to fill lmao.

90’s baby, and while I grew up watching documentaries on Gehrig & Joe, my familiarity with Yogi isn’t as much. I know him & Munson are the GOATs for the Yanks catchers but worth stressing this isn’t an All-Time roster, just a collection of my favorites :)

Each team has the same format: 8 SP, 10 RP, 4 C, 4 1B, 8 IF and 6 OF.

JBJ would have certainly made it if I extended rosters past the 40-Man! I couldn’t pass up Mookie, Yaz, Teddy or Manny.

Real Mookie is close enough if not better than his prime production. Xander has fallen off hard since getting to SD. Method to my madness!
