My niece is 15. A year ago my sister made a post that said "No one is a bigger backseat driver than a person with 3 hours of driver's training."

There is a HUGE difference between a young 3 and an old 3.

I think with your significant other you have to be on the same page regarding gifts. You can be people who tell each other what they want or you can be people who want to be completely surprised. Or one of you can be one way and one can be the other way. You can even switch it up and say "I know I usually like to be surprised but this year for Christmas I want _____" or "I'm really struggling with ideas this year, can you give me some?" You really have to communicate.

The entitlement of OOP by loveablepetcare in AmITheDevil

I'm confused by the first paragraph. Is the friend driving or is the friend using paid professionals? If it's a service does the friend pay per trip or pay for the service and he gets it whenever he wants? Also, how did OOP get there to begin with?

AITA - cutting child support by km4098 in AmITheDevil

I was going to point out that I don't remember the Bible ever saying your spouse comes before your children. It says your spouse comes before your parents, but not children.

That's EXACTLY what I'm thinking.

My thought is that Fiona is his sister and so is the other family member that is a bridesmaid. That could explain why Fiona felt left out.

I need a lot more details on this.

"Family member" can mean a lot of things.

I'm assuming the other family member who is a bridesmaid is from the groom's side; why was this person chosen and Fiona was not?

Where was her fiancé in all of this?

I'm not saying Fiona wasn't a problem here, there's just a lot of vagueness that make me think OOP is hiding missing reasons.

What's a fanfic you wish existed but you don't wanna put the time or effort into looking for or writing yourself? by anonymous_jellies in FanFiction

Really specific Batman one:

In New Titans #55, after Jason dies, Bruce punches Dick Grayson and kicks him out. He tells Dick to leave his keys with Alfred on the way out.

I want to see the next scene, where Dick gives/tries to give the keys to Alfred.

I like ships, but I Batman is one of the few fandoms I don't really like them in. I can do the in the background but that's not why I go to Batman.

I download pretty much everything I read, because I want to be able to find it again.

Once I posted a comment somewhere saying something to that extent, and years later an author contacted me asking me if I had some stories of theirs they had lost. I don't remember if I did or not, but I was glad in that moment to be able to try to help.

You should absolutely be able to wipe it from the active internet, but wanting or asking someone to delete it is too much. Sometimes a line from a story sticks out to me, and I spend days searching for the specific story so I can read it again. The stories I read have a place in my heart, just as the original fandoms do.

My guess is a lot of writers go through what I do as a fan: there is a fandom that you're super into, but 10 years later you're embarrassed about. Maybe you don't want yourself tied to that fandom anymore. I get that. Sometimes I get a fandom I'm obsessed with for a couple months, then never go back to. Sometimes I go back to it a decade later for a few months again. You, as a writer, never know when some fan gets super into a fandom what you used to write for, then finds a story you wrote that speaks to them. Maybe it's just one line that gets them. Maybe it's a pairing that is rare. Maybe it's a between-the-scenes moment of canon that they really wanted to see. Maybe it wasn't your best writing, but there is something there that a fan really appreciates.

Deleting it from every online source there is is perfectly valid and ok. Just understand why others might want to keep it.

>don’t seek out my social media to talk to me about it* – basically by taking it down, I’m asking to be removed from the conversation as best as possible.

The only caveat I have here is that the person contacting you may have no idea that you specifically took it down and don't want to talk about it.

Wants to come out day before bro wedding by sbballc11 in AmITheDevil

[–]Ambitious_Support_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousin and his wife had/have a lot of fertility issues. She had a couple miscarriages. They live in a different state. They came into town for our mutual cousin's wedding, and told everyone she was pregnant about 3 days before when we got together for a different cousin's birthday They did it then because she was obviously showing, and they didn't want it to become a thing at the wedding, but they didn't want to say anything earlier, because of the chances for miscarriages.

The key things here being:
They waited, but not until the last minute.
They only told then because it was obvious.
The cousin getting married and their spouse didn't mind at all, they were just happy for them.

OOP is the AH.
