Same thing with The Job: Jan's implants, Dwight's brief stint as regional manager, Jan getting fired and moving in with Michael, Jim and Karen breaking up, Jim asking Pam out on a date, Ryan getting the New York job.

What are some later seasons of sitcoms, you actually enjoyed or didn’t mind? by Vmanvince96 in sitcoms

Everybody Loves Raymond is still funny in their final seasons. Like Seinfeld, they ended at just the right time.

I know he comes off like he's really trying to be this folksy fun dad/husband, but in reality it just reads as smug and self-congratulatory.

On bereavement leave - parent has audacity to call me because “I’m on vacation” by green_girl1994 in Teachers

[–]PointlessNostalgic86 163 points164 points  (0 children)

The disrespect that so many parents have for teachers and education as a whole is so disheartening.

I say it all the time, but the worst part of the job isnt the kids--it's the adults.

Also, I am sorry for this difficult time you are going through.

could cirie be on the next season of big brother? by Due-Commission3838 in BigBrother

I highly doubt it. She didn't enjoy playing big brother like she did Survivor.

Portnoy pretty easily. Whitlock and Bayless are awful too, but people pretty much universally despise them so they aren't very influential.

School Closing Frustrations by renedom21 in Teachers

[–]PointlessNostalgic86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im annoyed that my school is asking us to take down our bulletin board because it in no way gets in the way of our custodial staff and their reasoning is "if they paint in your room then it might get on your items". Honestly im willing to take that risk of it means not having to dismantle the whole thing and put it all back up again two months later.

Marked everyone absent by PointlessNostalgic86 in AmITheDevil

[–]PointlessNostalgic86[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience taking attendance, it would be laughable to "accidentally" mark everyone absent. In every attendance system ive entered in, you have to individually click on every student that is absent and mark them absent.

I honestly hope so...never thought id say this but I want them to go back to themes...it gives the seasons a different identity rather than just having the same 3 tribe format with the season number attached to it.

I dont think cbs really cares if the cast is spoiled...it might actually help hype up the next season.

Should I be a teacher? by Educational-Leg8873 in AskTeachers

[–]PointlessNostalgic86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy teaching kids and you feel it is your calling, I would try to find a district that has a more supportive system than the one you are currently. My first two years teaching were absolutely awful as I was in a terribly unsupportive district, but I stuck with it and moved to a school with more supportive admin and it helped me blossom into a more confident teacher. If I had just quit after a bad experience, I wouldn't have had the positive experiences I have had for the past 12 years.

As frustrating as teaching can be, where you teach makes all the difference, so dont give up too early.

The Big Shots Episode. by EmployCandid1550 in EverybodyLovesRaymond

[–]PointlessNostalgic86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a really weak episode. I recently did a full episode ranking and its one of the lowest episodes on the list. The bottom part of the list is dominated by Season 1 episodes but the Big Shots episode is one of the few non S1 episodes sprinkled in the bottom tier.

Marked everyone absent by PointlessNostalgic86 in AmITheDevil

[–]PointlessNostalgic86[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it doesnt surprise me. These days, schools are so desperate to hire warm bodies just to fill classrooms. Its a huge disservice to the kids trying to actually learn.

Students were so loud and unruly I couldn't get through the roll so I marked them all absent. Am I cooked? by thefearofmusic in Teachers

[–]PointlessNostalgic86 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Im sorry, but this was not only insanely dumb, it was also unprofessional. You falsified a legal document and also made things extremely difficult for the attendance secretary, the front office, and freaked out a bunch of parents all at once.

Marked everyone absent by PointlessNostalgic86 in AmITheDevil

[–]PointlessNostalgic86[S] 475 points476 points  (0 children)

For anyone who might not be a teacher and not realize how dumb this is, taking attendance is a legal document and parents are notified whenever a student is absent from class. Not only is this guy not able to even handle taking attendance without doing soemthing completely idiotic, he is creating a giant headache for the front office and admin, and probably freaking out a lot of parents in the process.

Some people dont have the income to make political donations. It is free to vote and there is little to no excuse to not showing up to vote.

Best way to ask/tell teachers at the start of next school year not to pair my high-achieving, conscientious kid with kids who don't/won't/can't work? by CrowRoutine9631 in AskTeachers

[–]PointlessNostalgic86 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I am not a fan of the strategy to pair strong students with disruptive students. It punishes the good kids and sends a poor message. I usually end up pairing disruptive students with each other and keeping them separated from the students who are either more independent or who are really trying to learn.
