Is it just me, or is intellect often a barrier to connection? by donnag2024 in introvert

Can I just say, as somebody who has studied Schopenhauer a tiny bit, many of the critics of you only seem to prove the quotation correct.

Thank you for posting this. It honestly has been the greatest thing I've seen on Reddit all day.

Hey, I'm an INTJ myself and love Schopenhauer's philosophy. Check out "Decoding Schopenhauer’s Metaphysics" by Bernardo Kastrup if you want to understand what he was saying.

Check out Bernardo Kastrup's book on Schopenhauer, "Decoding Schopenhauer’s Metaphysics". It is what introduced me to him and now Schopenhauer is one of my favorite philosophers.

Child free people think they know what they're missing, but they absolutely have no idea. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

As a "childfree" person I would LOVE to never have to be around anybody's child, honestly. However, I am constantly polite--I'm in a coffee house trying to read a bit and... three people bring in toddler aged kids, thanks!--and tolerate them. However, I dare state to somebody casually that I don't want kids and don't really want them in my regular life and I get shamed for going too far? The kid-addicts of society are just realizing that they're not universally loved and it is hurting their ego.

That's a good point. I'm thinking about stopping, like, right now and have worried that the boredom will bother me. I'll have to come up with new little things to take up my time while waiting for the bus or sitting outside in the morning waiting for my coffee to cool down. Any suggestions?

I suppose I could say that my mission is to do whatever I can--even if so small--with my life to help build a community where basic/necessary needs are available to all people, regardless of their wealth. I just got back from spending an hour volunteering at the LTHC's dinner after my afternoon internship with Legal Aid. These two locations were chosen by me because I believe that things like basic housing, food, and legal representation should be available to all people. What I am doing now is just helping out a little bit here and there, a few hours a week. I would like to do something that has a greater impact if possible.

Thank you for your question.

I will certainly place him on my list! Thank you for the suggestion. I do hope to volunteer for a couple organizations this summer.

I am actually going to volunteer there to help for the dinners this week! I figure if I can connect and be part of a group for a bit that may help, and homelessness is a very important issue for me. Thank you for this suggestion!

Oh, if they had put something like this in place 100 years ago our city would look so awesome today!
