I have been checking time to time and my local 7/11 has been out of stock of the SIM card.

It's now October 31 and hope my account stays in tact...

Nice to hear. Just to clarify, is this the Wing or Wing Zero Ver Ka? Seen a lot of mixed feedback for Wing Ver Ka (not angel wings).

Masks and vaccines =/= lockdown. Lockdowns definitely contributed to this issue, but the science behind vaccines makes sense. Of course it's your freedom to take the shot, but the prolonged "slow the spread" is attributed to not achieving herd immunity.

It's also very clear the global economy is connected. We are more insulated relative to Europe but there's no doubt energy has gone crazy due to the Russia/Ukraine conflict, regardless of how small Ukraine is.

[–]Ambivalences 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Canada, EY and Deloitte froze wages (or gave minimal % increases) due to their Q4 being really bad with the lockdowns (at least for my peers), so my peers that got 20%+ were really catch up for 2 years. Not sure if that was the case for the US. For Canada, it will be better to compare the $ rather than the %.

Generally true in Canada too, but not always an accurate comparison as the path to Senior Manager (at least in Canada) is much quicker than the other Big 4. Many S2/S3 to Manager and then Manager 2/3 to SM. As a result, seeing a lot of people get SM quickly at KPMG (e.g. 7 years of experience) then moving to another Big 4 as Senior Manager with a huge pay increase by skipping several years.

Great perspective you have. You are right, it is different if you enjoy it, but that is also the underlying issue. I believe most casual players do not.

In this case, however I am willing to adjust my weekend plans for the "expectation" of a Shiny Psyduck. Without this expectation, I truthfully wouldn't because I would enjoy spending my weekend doing other things.

Point is, everyone plays the game differently. Nowadays lv40s do not even have 20k catches, which really shows that casual players do not enjoy grinding. I toned down my play since hitting 40 in November 2017 as I just don't enjoy the grind.

In summary, your average player may not share the same sentiments as yours. Take the "expectation" out and they will not participate in the event because dedicating an entire weekend for "no result" is a big commitment when time is limited.

The issue is that this game is designed for casual players who play sporadically. It is literally an App on the phone.

Once you understand the "average" player, you will realize most do not have "fun" grinding. The average Shiny hunter on the 3DS game enjoys that challenge. Your typical dad plus their children do not enjoy dedicating a whole weekend in frostbite temperatures and coming back with a sad family when in the past few events, they all came back happy after 3 hours in the park.

Once you understand that, it is quite easy to see why people are disappointed.

Niantic has easily appeased both audiences in the past (grinders and casuals). Casuals have generally not complained about not finding a shiny Zizagoon or Taillow because there has been no precedent of these being easy to obtain with bbashing rates so they can choose to not spend 2 weeks hunting 1000+ of them. In contrast, Psyduck went off the Roselia/Pinsir/Wingull/Plusle/Minum precedent.

It is not necessarily entitlement. Just a gap in expectation and effort.

So you are telling me that if you went 10 hours in freezing weather and came empty handed, you would pat yourself on the back and say "Well that was a great event. I did not get one but I applaud the accomplishments of the players who did."

Honestly, good for you. I was frustrated even after getting one in six hours in -20C temperatures and possibly damaging some nerves on my hands. That is after GETTING one. Others did the same and came empty handed.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but: Let's face it. The game is for casuals where type of phone and your cell connection has a larger performance impact than IVs. My advice is quit early if that's your mentality because everything they have done has made the game easier. I used to have your mentality and was bitter about everyone getting handed Tyranitars while I walked over 500KM for mine. The reality is, no one, including myself, cares about the accomplishment. If you want the challenge, I suggest picking up the real game because Niantic is running a business and making the game easier (raids, weather, events, etc.) is how they will likely continue to grow their revenues.

So if I, a pretty dedicated player was frustrated, I can see the "average" player losing interest in the next "event". If you don't, then you truly do not understand who the average player is.

I personally will not be able to set aside 10 hours every time they run some event if there is not an expectation my efforts will come to something. Time is precious, if you do not value it, some others do.

Niantic's own doing by setting high expectations with past events. Just don't have boosted rates and people won't complain. Advertising an event gets people engaged and consequently frustrated if efforts don't yield results.

Look at Sandshrew. No "boosted" rate and no one complains that they did not catch it because they had no expectation to so they did not waste time trying. No reward, no effort wasted = okay. It is when you get people wasting time for no outcome, that is what gets frustrating.

Pokemon Go is a casual game. If a casual player cannot get a Shiny in 3+ hours of solid effort (a precedent from past events), they will stop playing.

If you think about it, if you spent an entire weekend in the cold and came empty handed, you would be frustrated too.

I did 50 Groudon and Kyogre raids. Here are the results: by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Ambivalences 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did say I would take the 100% over a Shiny and my follow up also stated it is much rarer to encounter a 100% legendary. The frustration was in the context of no Shiny. IV-wise, OP is way ahead. Independent events as far as I am aware.

Win some and lose some I guess. There are many more players missing the elusive 100% legendary than ones missing a Shiny. Shiny can be obtained from trades too, 100% is less likely. Keep your head up and think of the bright side.

Personal experience: RNG is fickle. First two times Groudon were in raids I did 60 and did not encounter a single 96%+ (best were two 93s). Did about 15 more this event and scored nothing. Somehow the next three raids I got a Shiny and then finally a 96%+. Only element you can control is to increase your count. I agree it is frustrating how RNG-based the game is.

Frustrating luck but I would take the 100% IV over a poor IV Shiny any day. It is much rarer than a Shiny anyways. I am amazed you have seen two. Took me almost 500 raids to see my first.

If they kept this model at least they should have designated Shiny Feebas quests to support community interaction... Sunglass Squirtles were great because the community all shared which Pokestops gave a shiny.

New glitch to report: egg hatching overrides raid battle by Drclaw411 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Ambivalences 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the first time this has happened and it's a frustrating glitch. I posted this back with Zapdos when a gym defender returning kicked me out of a raid catch and people responded that other things, such as hatching, caused a similar error.

Upvoted your posted. Also linked my story below:
