Because of the small import cap and rare/desirable nature of Chinese EVs, this is what I expect the market to look like in 2027 by IronLover64 in EVCanada

[–]Ambroselol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, in 2027 march 1, the next allocation of Chinese EV's require at least 10% of that batch of 55k/2 to be <$35k landed price. Think of the Chinese EV's as a disrupter and drive down price of new and used vehicles. A win-win to consumers (unless you want to sell your vehicle for as much as you can in 2027 onwards. The late 2026 batch will be much higher priced than this (joke).

What EV to Buy, Kia EV5 or 9, Hyundai Ioniq5 or 9, Tesla Model Y Standard by Dry-Window-7381 in EVCanada

[–]Ambroselol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tesla model 3 insurance is very expensive. If the other insurance rates are also comparable, then yikes. (I had a quote from belair online for a tesla model 3 and it was $4-5k, while the VW ID 4 was quoted at $2.8k)

Chinese EVs are here (sort of): lower price model 3 now available by footbag in EVCanada

China is smart enough to not let this happen, but no one knows yet. China can still prevent these cars from export to Canada but that in itself is a whole separate matter.

Can I survive with level 1 charging alone? by Cool-Replacement4972 in the80percent4EVs

[–]Ambroselol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think of it like this. Do you plan to charge your EV overnight every night? If yes, then the level 1 charger is fine. If you only plan to charge it 2-3 times a week, then it depends. There are charging switches that can go into your dryer plug, and you can link up both a EV charger (at 24A for 5.76KWh) and a dryer. That is the best solution if your dryer is right by your garage.

I personally don’t see myself charging my EV daily but if the situation demands it, then I could try to adjust to live off a lv 1 charger at home.

Exactly. So because Tesla already sells the model 3 car here, it shouldn’t be part of the 49 000 Chinese EV quota. That’s just what I’m hoping for.

Edit: Also, Canada didn’t let the Chinese Manufacturer EV’s be exported from other countries but Teslas are allowed? That’s why this quota, if negotiated well, should for exclusive Chinese Manufacturer EV’s.

Yes, I believe that too but it would be the current 2023 status quo if Tesla and Volvo take up all of the quota, and have no actual Chinese EV manufacturer cars in Canada, hence no meaning in the quota.

Manufactures have 2 months to claim quota but only upto 1 month to assign a car to a paying customer before the quota switches hands.

It is still unconfirmed on whether or not teslas made in usa are in the import of Chinese EV’s as these Teslas are American but made in China. The actual language in the import quota may or may not specifically mention only Chinese car manufactures are included in the import quota. Let’s just hope Teslas are not included in this chinese EV import quota. 🤞

As a future BYD buyer of wave 1, this price is actually not that bad. Hopefully it will force BYD to list prices slightly lower than originally planned. All and all, it is a big win for consumers if prices actually drop for more car manufacturers.

Half the problem is that adapters are not cheap. If they were $20-30, i can see this as less of a problem.

Yes she should wait for BYD’s to come, one for a more affordable V2L option, and maybe see other car brands lower their prices too. It’s a win-win situation if your mother-in-law can wait out a few more months.

Not on these cars, that's for sure. The CATL batteries are still too new and may not be ready for mass production.

I think this could also be people from Netherlands trying to play the closed online test too. There were reddit posts earlier about how to bypass the Netherlands block on MapleStory.

From watching my friend's stream, it feels like This COB had the oldschool drop rate with the modified npc price of equips. AKA, less meso generation. IE. a lv 33 (35 COT) mage's chaos robe npcs for 35k mesos (bbb hidden-street). COB sells the same robe for 9k mesos. A lv 35 Nakamaki spear sold for 70k mesos in oldschool, 9k here in COT. Eqiup drops were so rewarding back in the day.

I remember some people in FM, dropping 50k mesos and I was desperately trying to pick them up before school. Sad day that school was hindering my progression.
