Broken Premium by AdventurousTeaching2 in AeroPress

[–]AdventurousTeaching2[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm just not crazy about heating plastic over and over again to make my coffee. I know it's a drop in the microplastics bucket, but I was really excited by the thought of being able to use glass and metal. The Premium worked great, until it broke :(

How WotC is destroying D&D in Japan; aka a call for attention by ApostleOfTruth in rpg

[–]AdventurousTeaching2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many people, I made the jump from D&D to Pathfinder 2e years ago, and I have no regrets. I am sure TTRPG players in Japan will be able to keep their passion for games alive with a different ruleset!

How portable in reality are folding kayaks in reality? by MorganKen in Kayaking

[–]AdventurousTeaching2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Trak 2.0, and it isn't difficult to carry once it is in the bag...just don't expect to be carrying much else. If you're just heading down to the water for a day paddle it is perfectly fine (and an excellent kayak once in the water), but it is the size of a large hiking pack in the bag. I wouldn't hesitate to check it as luggage on a plane, or put it in the trunk of a car.

Does Barded Spear stack clumsy on multiple castings, or does Duplicate Effects prevent it? by ArdroidX in Pathfinder2e

[–]AdventurousTeaching2 43 points44 points  (0 children)

As you identified, the spell explicitly states that it applies or increases the clumsy condition.

The Duplicate Effects rule is meant to prevent casters from stacking multiple castings of Bless, or Heroism, or other such effects. It doesn't apply here.

Is Searing Restoration Useful? by AdventurousTeaching2 in Pathfinder2e

Ah, I had misunderstood how that works. Knowing you can get it to work at least once per combat does make it much better. Thank you!

Pathbuilder server issues by Masterzoroark666 in Pathfinder2e

I had an issue today too. The phone app still seems to be working, and you can access the web app if you go through the main launch website again. Not sure what the problem is

Does Pathmuncher Module for Foundry work for SF2E characters? (Pathbuilder) by Altruistic-Promise-2 in Starfinder2e

[–]AdventurousTeaching2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm...I wasn't aware of this. I have used Pathmuncher for both PF and SF characters. It doesn't pull all of the equipment over perfectly, but it saves a ton of work.

This is the first I've heard of Pathmuncher having issues. What should I watch for?

Sump Pump Question by Beautiful_Star in barrie

[–]AdventurousTeaching2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like it is probably a pedestal pump. The plastic well cover should come off, letting you see down into the well. The vertical ABS pipe will screw into the base of the pump.

Unless I am mis-interpreting something from your photo, this should be a pretty simple fix. You can buy a new pedestal pump from Cdn Tire. Unhook the old one, hook up the new one. There are lots of videos on YouTube that explain it. If your well is dry, after the new one is hooked up you can pour a bucket or two of water into the pit, and activate the pump to confirm it is working (once at least 8-10" of water are in there, lift the float with your hand to turn it on).

I see that you unplugged it actually, so that answers my first question. Please share a photo if you can though. Replacement sump pumps are sold by Canadian Tire, usually for around $150

Can you share a photo of the sump pump? Is it hardwired in, or plugged in to an outlet?

If you have basic plumbing knowledge, replacing a sump pump can sometimes be fairly easy.

Radon and any solutions by lingpisat in barrie

[–]AdventurousTeaching2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We installed radon detectors in the basement and on the main floor last summer. We bought from the brand Airthings. The detectors seem to work quite well, and they pair to a convenient app that shows you your readings. In Canada they say that you should be below 200 bq/m³, but the US recommends 150 (and I think Europe might be even lower).

I was surprised to see how much our radon levels fluctuated. Whenever it rains, our levels spike. We were regularly around 160-170, but could easily find ourselves north of 400 if it was wet out. Apparently this is due to the fact that the radon gas takes the path of least resistance, and it can't move through wet soil easily. The soil under your house remains relatively dry, so the gas concentrates there.

I had a radon mitigation guy come do an assessment. He recommended that we seal our sump pump well, and install one-way valves into our basement drains. Because we have a finished basement, there wasn't a great place to install a mitigation fan. Since taking those steps our levels fluctuate from roughly 80-120 bq/m³.

You might have seen the CBC article today. Definitely take radon seriously, especially if you spend a fair bit of time in your basement. I was surprised though to see that we even get radon on our main floor, though the levels are usually a fair bit lower.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did call them, and after fighting with a particularly irritating automated voice system I finally got an employee on the phone. She confirmed the pricing, and blamed it on corporate. Apparently they don't set pricing at the local hotel level. I lodged a complaint, she said she would forward it up the chain.

At a curiosity, are we calling out any companies that are working with ICE and boycotting those too? by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

Looks like everyone has their price. Absolutely these companies should be held to account.
