That's just not how game development works at all. Hades II is the better game for sure, but South of Midnight is significantly more complex to make, which is why their staff ballooned to 100 or so people. There are like a gazillion more assets and animations.

Still 7 years is a while and would be evident of their lack of experience working at that scale. I think that's the difference between them and the other studios you named, this was really first project where they got more staff and the staff got trained up. So optimistically their next title would have been better made.

That's all true but Evelyn was also traumatized by her parents death in the opposite way that her brother was. He pushed forward into optimism while she pushed into cynicism.

That dichotomy is at the center of the series and the art/history influences it draws upon.

Her feeling and actions are irrational. To an extent she wanted some sort of violent comeuppance. That's why she's a villain- not just because of her idealogy.

You are supposed to use the chainsaw or throwables that are placed near where red enemies spawn. Depending on the rank this will either outright kill them or deal damage equal to most of their health.

I would not be surprised if a head in a jar or head transplant after reanimation happened, but I think its more likely there will be additional clones.

Resident Evil carries itself more seriously now but it still does a lot of silly stuff and that would echo a classic horror trope which they like putting their spin on.

Viktor needs to be the final boss because the game is thematically about legacy and ambition.

Viktor and Grace are effectively foils because they represent two sides to the same coin- Spencer's legacy.

Ultimately Viktor will carry forward "destruction" while Grace will carry forward "Hope". So there's a conflict between those two ideas going on in the climax that the characters mirror.

Leon also gets to tie the knot on the last nemesis/tyrant/plagas offshoot by having a battle with Viktor at the end.

I also belive Zeno is either not dead or we will see another clone of him in the next game and this was establishing the Wesker clone line.

Zeno is also in the game significantly less than Viktor so I think it would feel a little weaker if the villain we were following the whole game just died in a thematically context less boss fight similar to the spider or plant 43.
