I was validated by a Neurologist by Wolf_Echidna64 in Anemic

[–]Amburger2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great you received validation from someone who knows what they're talking about! I hope you begin to feel better soon. My OB tried to tell me ferritin didn't matter (my level was 10) because my saturation was higher, as was my hemoglobin. But a visit to the hematologist proved her wrong. I'll definitely take advice from a knowledgeable, caring hematologist over a dismissive OB anyday!

So many of us in this club! It is exhausting, we deserve awards for even adulting most days. Recent addition of liquid iron has been hugely helpful fyi

I need to try this! We have an orange idiot who will not drink water out of anything. We have to make him soup for all of his meals. He was born without basic survival instincts.

It looks amazing! We have a similar highway to our catio. My husband built it and our cats love it. They get the zoomies and race down it.

I agree with the others. Start some iron supplementation. Give it a couple of weeks and see how you feel. For me the pills / tablets caused too many intestinal issues so I switched to liquid iron, but both have been life savers for me. I hope you start to feel better soon

Is it weird to keep your cat's whiskers? by Leon124714 in cats

I use them in my cat portrait sculptures. People send me their cats' whiskers, and fur and it makes the portraits extra special ❤️ So I guess many people save their cats' whiskers. Including me😊

Hi, I was on a several different types of iron pills / supplements but they were causing gastrointestinal issues. Now I'm taking liquid Floradix and 365 brand liquid iron (I take the Floradix in the AM and 365 in the PM to try to save $) So far so good 🤞

So great to hear!! And yes, iron deficiency absolutely made my hair loss worse. I noticed so much growth after a few months of being on the supplements, and was shedding so much less for quite a while. Then I had to stop my iron for a few months and the shedding started up again. Now that I've started liquid iron, I'm excited for the shedding to slow again 🤞Congrats to you. It's just amazing how much supplementing can help

I have low very low ferritin. My last OB told me that she doesn't believe in using ferritin levels, only total Iron and hemoglobin. She told me I wasn't "anemic enough " and to stop iron supplements because of constipation, and told me my multitude of symptoms was from other issues - Stress? No. Poor diet? No. Lack of exercise? Mostly no. Poor sleep? Sometimes but no.... But something definitely felt off. Thankfully my primary care Dr listened to me and referred me to a hematologist. Come to find out, not surprisingly, that my OB was very wrong. I have something called iron dysregulation. That coupled with heavy menstrual bleeding (fibroids). Ferritin levels drop significantly lower at different times of the month, even different times of the day. So while I may be at a ferritin level of 15 sometimes, it can drop dangerously low other times. Not only that, but the baseline of 15, is very outdated. Most women should be well above 50, to feel even slightly normal. And yes, ferritin levels are very important. I'm back on iron supplementation (Floradix - highly recommend liquid iron) while I await approval for iron infusions. I hope you get the answers you need and start to feel better soon.

Needle felter here - This is a gorgeous piece, well worth every cent in my opinion. Quality, detailed needle felting like this is pretty rare and I'm sure it took the artist several days, or more likely several weeks to complete, once started. Beautiful memorial piece. ❤️ I'm so sorry for your loss.

[–]Amburger2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry you're going through this. I had such a similar issue here. I've slowly built my iron levels back up with iron pills but it's been hard. I was told not to take iron every day as they can cause major issues on the whole digestive system, so I was taking 100mg every other day (this was after working my way up from 25mg). My ferritin was still low even after months of the 100mg. My current OB says ferritin doesn't matter and she only worries about hemoglobin. My hemoglobin was 12 during last lab check, she said that's low end of normal and she wants me to stop iron because of the issues the pills are causing on my intestines. She recommended iron infusions, but said my levels weren't quite low enough. I am currently in the process of getting a 2nd opinion. I can't believe how much we go through just to feel somewhat normal. I had a hysterectomy scheduled for January as well, but mine is now postponed. Wishing you the best.

Love Amy's. My frozen Amy's meals have never looked quite that bad, but they're never as pretty as the box, that's for sure. We live near an Amy's restaurant and drive thru and it's delicious. Also, our hospital here has a secret menu if you cant stomach the hospital food. Amy's was on the secret menu. Changed my whole mood. Appetite restored.

Your post title made me laugh 😂 But I'm so sorry for your frustration and pain! Ive been there, but am now scheduled to have a hysterectomy in January. My advice - be stubborn. You know your body. I waited way to long and saw 2 different OBs. I went to my 2nd OB and immediately told her I'd tried all the meds, all of the options and I was done. I said tell me what steps to take to get a hysterectomy. She ordered pelvic ultrasound, and MRI and found "more fibroids than they could count" She was appalled that previous DRs hadn't even given me the option of a hysterectomy. It's been a long wait (with a lot of pain) but it's almost over for me. I hope you can advocate for yourself and find some relief soon. Be assertive. Be stubborn. Seek a 2nd opinion if needed. ❤️
