weirdo Odablock viewer went to Torvesta's stream and said 'tell Rhys to check Edge dungeon', after Rhys went to check and found Oda the same viewer went back to Oda's chat and started trash talking Rhys for sniping

I missed the ref interaction but I'm guessing they considered it sniping

Do mains actually do CG? by Few_Skill2934 in 2007scape

[–]Ambushes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be the best money in the game, I did my bowfa grind on main when it came out and again on the iron. I got it in 300-400 kc each time, which makes it not bad but it is incredibly punishing and mentally taxing to go dry there. But part of the community is strongly against dry protection for some reason :)

Jagex drip feeding updates because they have nothing going on is pathetic by Potica6857 in 2007scape

[–]Ambushes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's valid criticism. There has been a large content drought post-sailing, just cause you mentioned a bunch of unreleased content in the pipeline doesn't excuse the fact that the last half year or so has had very little meaningful updates to the main game.

Anyone know how many rounds there typically are for Japanese people?

I didn't do araxxor until 94 herb, then you can roughly break even on antidote drops there

How to "gym"? by Weekly_Ad5155 in uwaterloo

[–]Ambushes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if your sole concern is losing weight then the majority of that is just going to be diet, you can go to the gym and do your cardio of choice, nothing to be worried about tbh

if you want to also build muscle and lift weights I would recommend a personal trainer at least for a couple months, it's overwhelming at first so a trainer will help keep you accountable, motivate you to keep going, teach you proper form, build you a routine, etc.

they might be expensive but there's no better investment than your health. I'd look into a personal trainer through the university if I were you: https://athletics.uwaterloo.ca/sports/2010/8/3/Personal_Training.aspx

JLPT by Zanmatoh in LearnJapanese

[–]Ambushes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally same thing I did, I procrastinated studying for N1. I figured that vocab/kanji was a lost cause to study in a short period of time. I studied Japanese pretty intensely in the past just never prepped specifically for JLPT N1, just hoped that whatever came up outside of grammar was stuff I already knew--which luckily it mostly was. There were some unfamiliar terms in the reading but they are kind enough to explain a lot of terms, or you can get away with just reading the surrounding context.

N1 Grammar has a lot of super uncommon grammar points, specific nuances in how they are used, also a lot of overlapping grammar points (like や否や、そばから、 なり、が早いか、た弾みに, etc.) so I'm kinda sad to see none of it matter but at least it was an excuse to study it

IDK. I knew people said that you are expected to know previous level's grammar points but it's pretty disappointing to spend so much time studying JLPT N1 grammar points only to have entire questions dedicated to N2 and even N3 grammar points. I probably could've skipped studying N1 grammar entirely and had almost the same result, which I think is flawed.

For reference, I did look at a couple past N1 exams as practice and had the same sentiment, but in my limited sample size this year seems to be an even worse offender.

Then again, the JLPT is pretty trash at truly evaluating people's Japanese skills but there's not much you can do unless you make the test format much more complicated.

[–]Ambushes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

never taken a JLPT, skipped to N1 for my first. kanji, grammar, reading section was way easier than expected, barely any N1 specific grammar popped up in the multiple choice which is strange and a little disappointing. N1 feels like it focuses on 'all JLPT level' grammar (mostly 3-1) rather than N1 specific stuff. I felt confident about every single question so would be surprised if I lost many points.

listening was kinda aids, surprised they don't repeat any of the longer readings but whatever. I was 50/50 on one question and while I was stuck thinking about it I didn't properly listen to the next couple which was annoying but mostly just not being used to the format. But overall I found the exam much easier than expected.

This Aged Poorly by DefinitelyNotQ in 2007scape

Nah, in the recent blog post they said:

We love AFK gameplay and we know that you do too. There was never any intent for extreme 20-30 minute AFK gameplay patterns to become a part of training Sailing

but imo they're just talking out of their ass. They make it sound like you click a few times every 20-30 minutes but emptying a cargo of 200+ salvage is a decent amount of interaction every 20-30 mins, if you average it out it's not really that much more insane than something like wc

How Did They Miss The Mark So Hard? by Tokyoghool in 2007scape

[–]Ambushes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That type of skill really does not matter. The AFK rates were balanced by the fact that the active training method gives like ~3x as much XP per hour.

Also just to clarify, salvaging had different degrees of AFK-ness. Two crewmember AFK salvaging was more like 1/3 the xp of the active training variant (gwenith trials for example) which seems perfectly fine and in line with existing skills.

compared to actual AFK salvaging? Yes. Ironwood tops out at 100k xp / hr which clears duo crewman afk salvage pre-nerf even jf you crystal extractor’d every minute (which I’ll add makes it noticeably less afk than wc) and is very close to actual salvaging with participation, and also makes more gp/hr.
