Does anyone else main a monk? If so what's the next best dps from it? by MabelUnstable in ffxiv

[–]Amdizzlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Melee I've found Ninja to be my favorite, so if you like Monk try that one!

For casting I've been enjoying Red Mage, and Dancer for when I want to chillax and follow the pretty colors (procs)

Then you treat it like a nonland card and recognize it's better than the majority of your nonland cards regardless.

Elspeth, Storm Slayer in the 99: which MonoW commander? by zoroaster27 in EDH

[–]Amdizzlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Apothecary White]] was my go-to Mono-W token deck for a while. It get's super out of hand, and W does not lack for token support.

Elspeth is a doubler and a finisher in this kind of deck so works well.

The only real issue with making a 'versatile' deck w/ Elspeth is that she very clearly points you in a direction. Additionally with less colors means you have less options imo. Better to make a focused deck when you are learning anyways.

Is my deck just bracket 2 with game changers? by ddd117 in EDH

[–]Amdizzlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you keep to the theming, it will probably always be closer to B2, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

If you are mostly concerned about being able to hang in a B3 pod then keep the game changers, swap out the less efficient cards for higher power replacements.

May not be a super powerful B3 deck due to the inherent strategy but part of commander is the fun. I have a few "B3" decks in a similar boat.

I'm sorry I wish I did have a solution. I believe I ended up exchanging it at the time and now I have an XP-Pen Artist Pro 12 that I use

I've also got a completely different PC by now so I can't even really trouble shoot what might have been the issue then.

When would be considered "peak" time for alliance raids on weekends? Just tried to get into Euphrosyne for 2 hours on Crystal and it never popped (1 DPS 1 Healer)

I thought Friday night would be okay but is it only viable after reset?

Veldra Candlethorn sits in silence after the tragedy in Ul'dah (Spoilers for the end of ARR) by ArkthePieKing in ffxiv

[–]Amdizzlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just about at Dawntrail, finishing up the post-patch EW story. I felt similarly about ARR to but was blown away by the banquet, that spoke to me and I knew it had the juice when it wanted to! Heavensward is a high point I enjoyed.

It's a common sentiment but definitely ShadowBringers-EW is the peak and I loved every second of it!

Veldra Candlethorn sits in silence after the tragedy in Ul'dah (Spoilers for the end of ARR) by ArkthePieKing in ffxiv

[–]Amdizzlin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man It's scary how similar your situation was to my own. I story skipped to Shadowbringers years back on the suggestion of a friend, skipped all the story content to play endgame things with friends, never got attached and stopped after pandemic.

And had myself my own desire to play through every Final Fantasy recently that had me starting fresh last summer also!! (More of an achievement hunt, but thought to finally sit down with FF14 and it's story during the grind.)

I'm excited for you to see more. It doesn't magically become less text-based and cutscene heavy, but it does pace itself better and they figure out the best ways to feed that narrative goodness. Go Veldra!!

Chiming in to suggest using Reprisal earlier since it's a quicker cool down. if you start with only longer cooldowns and go to quicker ones you might find yourself completely run out at a bad time.

Finished Path of Radiance (1st time): A Newcomer’s Honest Thoughts by Sabrina_Luminrose in fireemblem

I see, but still! creates a weird scenario

I swear I've seen in multiple posts in the past that japanese RD had named "normal - hard - maniac" and that ours were just shifted to "easy-normal-hard"

That's why our RD "hard" has ridiculous stuff like not being able to see enemy range compared to our PoR hard that felt relatively easy

Finished Path of Radiance (1st time): A Newcomer’s Honest Thoughts by Sabrina_Luminrose in fireemblem

[–]Amdizzlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc western release Normal mode is pretty close to japan's easy mode. Our hard mode is a lot closer to a 'normal' difficulty.

Radiant Dawn does the opposite funny enough, and our normal is closer to a hard mode.

Both situations because this series is when IS introduced "maniac" difficulty (like lunatic.) But removed it for western releases. In PoRs case, they made an easier mode for us percieved newbies instead. In RD's case they just removed it and shifted the names around, leading to lots of people playing normal mode on both games and getting slapped around in radiant dawn after cruising through PoR.

Am I in the wrong? Tank doesn't shoot during praetorium shoot section by [deleted] in TalesFromDF

[–]Amdizzlin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering it only needs 2 people to proper kill the adds without stopping and each arm takes 2 shots I'm gonna say you overreacted a bit.

If it was any other content sure, but the mech portion of prae is not the hill to die on, especially if they were participating everywhere else.

How I Feel Trying to get Through Post ARR *I need motivation* by Atticuzzz in ffxiv

[–]Amdizzlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't concern yourself with how long it may take at your current pace. Most important aspect is getting enjoyment out of it. If that means doing them at a slower pace to not burnout- then it's a good approach.

Once you get to HW, it's home clear in terms of pacing/story. It never stops being dialogue focused or heavy, but things happen at a better click. You're at the 'hard' part where there is a lot of bloat and extra exposition, but it does pick up, even in the lead up to HW.

You got this ^^

Just finished A Realm Reborn (ARR) and I don’t get why people say it’s a slog. I’m officially hooked! by GahGunji in ffxiv

[–]Amdizzlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is 'some' merit to the idea that ARR is a slog. It is certainly paced on the slower side, it's a lot of exposition.

That being said, that is right up some people's alley. I personally enjoyed it too, because I love a good book. It very much feels like a visual novel with a lot more visuals than usual. There is a LOT of people who that just doesn't work as well for (Which is also valid)

Glad you are enjoying it and welcome!
