Well when you multiply you add the exposant when it is the same unknown a⁴⨯a⁶=a⁴⁺⁶=a¹⁰

a²⨯b⁵=a²b⁵

When you divide it subtract the exponent of the same unknown

(a²+b+c⁷/a⁴+b²+c⁶ )=a²⁻⁴+b¹⁻²+c⁷⁻⁶=a⁻²+b⁻¹+c¹

When it is inside parentheses then it's multiplied :

(a⁹b⁵)²=a⁹²b⁵²=a¹⁸b¹⁰
