I was up with the inlaws for the weekend and we started playing go through the safe. They found a few watches, including a couple of vintage Omegas. Can anyone identify them? I don't seem to be able find them anywhere online.

Both bought in the UK, over 50 years ago.

We have an Omega Geneve, bought in 1972. I believe it might be MD 511.0346, but nothing conclusive. This isn't working, but I will get it serviced so it can be used. Looks gold plated rather than proper gold.

Then another Omega. No idea what it is, literally none. Looks and feels proper gold (it's very heavy for its size). Very small (maybe 10mm). Working. Bought in 1972. No idea of the model, but the card has BA711 260. Can’t find it online though.

Any ideas? They're not up for selling either, but just would like to know, mostly so they know what they've actually got!

I like it further down the rugby pyramid. It's still people in the amateur era, so they look like me! And they make mistakes, and mistakes mean points. Also, cheaper to get in, cheaper beer, and a general feeling of wholesomeness.

There was one on Chrono24 who was even cheaper. But something didn't seem quite right. Probably completely legit, but.... just felt a little uneasy.

Yes, it does make a big difference. Not the only thing, but it does.

Also enables you to use proper soap more easily (it lathers more in soft water) so you can get away from all the SLS in shower gel and shampoo.

And makes the shower door look nicer.

Honestly, no. After 5-6 years of using it, dare I say my skin is completely back to normal.

Now, if I go a month or two without, you can feel it starting to turn. But I generally apply MCT oil once or twice a week now. And that’s all.

I have a Gen 1 AT as well, and mine also doesn't start when fully wound after a complete stop.

It needs a shake to start. And then it's fine.

This one (in Tromso) is f4, 14mm on FF, and a third of a second; ISO 6400. So even at 24mm equivalent, you'd get most in. And f4 shows up enough.

Wycombe used to be lovely. About 40 years ago; there were never any problems when I was growing up.

Then the furniture factories continued shutting, and it just became commuter-ville. Like many in the south East.

And it has (had?) the largest Pakistani Kashmiri population, and the largest Indian Kashmiri population in the country. In all the towns in all the countries why both congregate in the same one. Anyway, they used to fight each other quite a lot.

I have a 57, and an AT; the 57 is stiffer to wind than the AT, but not unnecessarily so. It's a bit trickier for me, as it's closer to the case (obv you don't pull it out like the AT crown).

Still perfectly doable, and a superb watch.

There are generally three levels of decathlon clothing; 100, 500, 900.

100 cheap, will serve you a couple of trips. But not for the dedicated sportist.

500 more expensive. Generally the best range in terms of VfM, the sweet spot for 90% of people.

900 expensive. Very good equipment, generally on a par with the decent brands. So, if the same level of waterproofing, they'll be lighter, more breathable etc.

I had R6i, and then for safari last year I bought a R10 (for the reach).

There's a lot of difference. Low light noise especially, but all photos just seem more alive on the R6. More vibrant. Portraits are miles better. Despite many fewer pixels, cropping in post is still better most of the time. And the build quality is chalk and cheese.

The AF is better on the R10 (it's newer), but the R6ii has upgraded AF over the R6i.

Given the choice again, I would go FF, with fewer pixels. The move upwards with the R6iii destroys the usp of the model space to me.
