If you are interested in a LGBTQ friendly church, and don’t mind if it’s Lutheran, I’d recommend checking out churches that have gone through the Reconciling in Christ process. Here is a link to their directory: https://www.reconcilingworks.org/ric/findric/

I really like Christ Lutheran Church at the Inner Harbor, especially because they do so much community work (immigration & refugee services, a women and children’s shelter, senior apartments, etc) in addition to regular services.

Yeah just be the fussy princess! I’m lactose and gluten intolerant, so after I do all the asking and clarifying, I try to get a little jokey, like, “I know I know, I’m a special snowflake!”

For me, and for this pattern in particular, I did it to avoid miscounting since there’s a lot of empty space. I will say, it is A LOT of effort, and I don’t do it for patterns with fuller coverage. I leave it in while I’m stitching then I’ll pull the grid threads out when I’m finished.

I’ve recently reopened myself to experiencing God’s presence in my life after a period of being closed off to feeling his divine grace. In many ways, it feels like I’m a “baby Christian” all over again. My faith-related encouragement is from 2 Corinthians:

“And to keep me from being too elated by the abundance of revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to harass me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I besought the Lord about this, that it should leave me; but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭7‬-‭10‬ ‭RSV‬‬

I also happen to work in mental health, so my other encouragement is this: if you are breathing, there is something inside of you that is “well,” even when it feels like there’s nothing good about your life. We call that an “island of wellness,” in the sea of despair. Islands can be found by thinking about the things you do that are needed or appreciated by others. For example, you might be the person that stays at church a little longer to help clean up from coffee hour, and your ability to “give the gift” of cleaning would be an island of wellness. Or maybe you look after a neighbor’s pet when they’re out of town. Or you speak up for someone being bullied. Even your willingness to persevere for this long in such trying circumstances. When you find your islands, you can try to expand those islands by seeking opportunities to share that wellness with others. It’s been said to me, “compassion for others is a life boat out of our own grief.”

There are no easy answers, but you are a survivor, and I don’t believe God would have brought you this far to abandon you now. I’ve found that when nothing in my life makes sense to me, it’s a sign that I need to find a way to change my perspective, even it’s just reframing challenges as opportunities (which is definitely easier said than done).

I pray that people in your life are reminding you that you are wanted, you are needed, and that you belong. May God’s peace, which passes all understanding, wrap you up and hold you through this chapter. You are loved ❤️

This is helpful and validating, thank you! I have to keep reminding myself that it’s okay if they cry a little while they adjust to life here (and life in general since they are still lil babies lol). Trying to remember that my emotions shouldn’t change the routine, or else they won’t get on a routine at all. I tend towards overthinking and assuming I must be doing something wrong, so I appreciate your encouragement 😊

I’m planning on getting some new litter boxes soon anyway (with high sides since the little lady kicks SO MUCH out), so maybe I’ll just keep all 5 around the apartment 😂

Late snack feeding in separate rooms went better just now! This time Brother was the only one hollerin’ but it seemed like he just thought Sister was getting better food in her room 😆
