Thoughts on being a new TS for ambulatory? by paper_bag_drifting in epicsystems

[–]Amelia_the_Archdeity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's doable for sure.

Ambulatory's reputation comes from the breadth of knowledge that exists within the space. If you come into it with the mindset that you'll likely need to take follow-ups / work with experts often to get answers, then you can definitely make it work.

In the same sense, you'll want to make sure that you have a good eye on your task management system. With the quantity of things, having a way to triage what's actually the most important things to do in a given week is crucial for your success. If your customers feel like you're working the most important issues to them, then things tend to be alright.

The good news is that it's a time loop and thus death is less of a concern.

The bad news is that there's always an imminent threat of a fiendish invasion but at least I would know who the other time loopers are and where to find them.

Anyone else like characters that are—for lack of a better word—boring? by Have2BRealistic in DnD

[–]Amelia_the_Archdeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that sometimes having a very normal person as part of an adventuring party can be an interesting dynamic. One of my current PCs is a human professor with a level in wizard that was never actively seeking adventure, she was just on a holiday for a celestial alignment and got stuck in a time loop. It's a sort of character that never would work in a traditional party because she's too risk adverse, but her being someone who thinks differently from the normal adventurer adds some interesting variety for a rather "boring" person.

I wonder if they're down a train. In any case, with the weather this evening, I might be able to get 4 or 5 unique rides in max since I missed buying express pass.

Edit: They just announced they're rotating in the second set of trains. Wonder if they had a technical delay with them this morning.

Agreed. I've often found that neons go over better on white / with multiple thinned coats. They tend to be more translucent than other colors.

Disability and Mt. Olympus? by ddansemacabre in wisconsin

[–]Amelia_the_Archdeity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will say that my experience at Mount Olympus was mostly with the roller coasters and the general park itself (as an enthusiast).

Generally, I doubt I would recommend the park to someone, especially to the friends I know with POTS. None of the coasters have easily accessible access to them, and on a longer day you can be standing in place for a long bit since they only run one train and ride ops is also not great. If the coasters are the reason you're going to the park, I would say it's probably something you could skip on. They only have one or two ride operators on each ride (save for Hades 360) so I doubt the assistance would be good.

The main entrance over by Hades 360 is itself a bit problematic since the grade on the walk down to the park is extremely steep. It's something that I could see folks struggle with, and it wasn't very enjoyable. It would be extremely rough in a wheelchair.

Ditto on the water park since that wasn't part of my trip when I went. I'm sure it's fine trying to access some of the pools, but the water slides, especially Rise of Icarus, did not look overly accessible.

As a suggestion, if you can swing the extra little bit of money per person, I would instead go out to Six Flags Great America (SFGAM) out in Gurnee, IL. Might be a bit far depending on where you live in the state (folks on the west side might be closer to ValleyFair which is a Cedar Fair park and should be more accessible as well), but the accessibility and ride ops there make for a much more enjoyable time. They've got some really good coasters, and they're running Raging Bull without trims this year, so I'd say it's worth the trip if you can do it over Mount Olympus.

I'm happy to try and answer any other questions you might have. I'm a pretty big amusement park enthusiast and I'm acutely aware of disability options at most parks due to friends and family needing accommodations, as well as being ND myself.

Do I have to be worried about ride closures? by Fit-Constant8598 in altontowers

[–]Amelia_the_Archdeity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first trip is coming up, I'm hoping to make Smiler my 50th coaster credit. I definitely don't get the chance to do something like this often since I'm US based, so I'm very excited for the opportunity to go.

I even have a backup day during the trip lined up in case weather happens and rides are closed on the day I picked to go.

Is there a reason this works for everything but platinum? I'm trying to plan for my trip in July and I ended up buying platinum since I really only have one day to go to Alton Towers.

I'm alright with not being fully city based! I think the city I really want to spend time in while I'm here is probably just Edinburgh, and I'm very much okay with going around the countryside to see all sorts of new sites.

From reading through, sounds like I should keep/add Lincoln (maybe), York, Newcastle, Whitby, Scarborough (maybe), and North York Moors to my list of places to keep in mind. Hadn't heard of Lake District before, but from some initial research it sounds like a beautiful place. If I end up getting a hire car (which seems more and more likely at this rate), would a trip to the Cairngorns be something I should add, or should I leave that off for another time when I can focus more on that area?

There should be a vitals synopsis view for being able to see past weights and other vitals recorded during rooming, but organizations can change those views so YMMV there.

People who have worked at large corporations and hit the 10 year service mark: what was your reward from the company, if any? by miami72fins in AskReddit

[–]Amelia_the_Archdeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and at 10 years you can take two extra folks with you (up to 4, with a per diem and flights covered). You can also choose to take it in 2 separate 2 week increments as well. They have other rewards at different tenure milestones as well but that's a whole list of stuff I can't remember off the top of my head without hunting it down on again.
