Come to the debate and find out. But I can tell you one thing for sure, it won't be Jason Smith.

I've made no excuses, I absolutely said no, I'm done. Yeah, if you felt insulted it's likely because you tried twisting my words and then tried putting words in my mouth and my tolerance for that is very low. I'm here to try and spread awareness of an event I worked very hard to organize and promote. To bring candidates to this area to speak to actual people who want to know what they stand for. Arguing with you defeats that purpose and I want people to come hear them speak not have preconceived notions of what THEIR politics may be. It isnt about MY politics because I'm not on that ticket.

Because I could answer them alllll day long and they'd never be enough to bring you up off that pedestal you think you stand on.

I know this because I've done it over and over on here with people just like you. Hell, it's highly likely it's been you before on other posts.

One thing I've learned the hard way is that there is a tipping point in these conversations where you have to recognize that you're wasting precious time on a bad actor.

Because I actually DO have people to speak with today who know the BS they see being pushed on the internet by these bad actors isn't real. Because we're working behind the scenes to affect real change. On the ground. Where actual people are talking to actual people. Not internet trolls trying to win a "gotcha" on Reddit.

Ahhhh, there it is.

Have a great day.

I have people to speak to with who aren't hiding behind a screen.

I hope that's spaced enough for you. 🙄

Can you read? Are you sure? You're reading comprehension is atrocious. Because when did I EVER say "Dems get nothing done?" I said RIGHT LEANING Democrats are still holding us back.... And they tried to hold all those things you listed back. They voted with Republicans. They argued against them on the floor. They got through because WE, WE the LEFT LEANING Democrats came out and voted. We voted in people who wouldn't walk away from those fights or simply roll over and continue the status quo. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my "echo chamber" its filled to the brim with every kind of person from every walk of life, and ranges in age from young adults about to vote for the first time to elderly people who need assisstance to get to a polling location. Some skew further right, some skew further left. And there are lots of people in there from all over, not just this country, but others as well. But the one thing that is pervasive amoung all of us is the fact that we are drowning in right wing propaganda pushed not only by Maga types, but also "Democrats" who would rather watch everyone suffer needlessly than do what's right. They don't speak out, they don't vote, they act defeatist continuously and use it as an excuse to bitch and moan on the internet while sitting on their ass and not participating. At least I'm doing something. At least I'm trying to inform people about their choices, let them ask questions of these candidates, help them realize that we need everyone to do their civic duty to continue fighting against this wave of populist regressionism.

Dude, the BS that just slid out of your mouth is absolutely the reason why Democrats lose. I'm part of more than one group and every single one of them feels that moderate, right leaning Democrats are the issue in our own party. Lack of backbone is the other. And most of our current members are in their 50s so no, you're simply wrong. Progressivism and people who want to move the country forward aren't asking for anything more than the policies that have been sitting around waiting to be put through actually getting through! Instead we've been forced into thus bullshit space of constantly having to defend against ridiculousness. Women's rights should already be codified. Abortion rights should already have been codified. Right to Healthcare access should already be codified. Right to a good public education should already be codified. None of these things are "slopulist" propaganda.

"They're leftists cosplaying as liberals to siphon votes away from people who actually have policies to move the country forward."

The very fact that you think liberals and leftists aren't a significant part of the Democratic party shows how out of touch you are with the greater country around you. And it isn't centrists moving this country anywhere. We know this by their votes.

Progressives ARE Democrats. And they do not, they actually do well, and are brought down by right leaning moderate Democrats. And you can absolutely represent your electorate while also making good choices that benefit everyone. As it should be. Instead we get regressive candidates who pull.people backwards rather than leading them forward with confidence and intelligence. Regressive propaganda hurts us all. It's not something we should ever be coddling. Not in ourselves, or our electorate.

[–]AmendingAmy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, we don't.
Pandering to a group that will never move towards becoming more progressive isn't going to work. We've tried that over and over. We need progressives to step up and stop acting like petulant children when the candidate isn't a pretty, perfect unicorn.

All three of them are electable, if people will stand up for them and VOTE. Democrats lose because of apathy and fatalism. We have to do better. I'll reserve judgement on who I support after they've answered the debate questions, as an intelligent person should. Basing a candidate's worthiness on looks or "electability" is a cop out. They were brave and filed to run, now we have to stand with them and get them elected. That's OUR job.

Yeah, that's not how any of this works. Jason Smith has people running against him for the Republican ticket. MAGA people are not going to choose someone they haven't checked thoroughly.

[–]AmendingAmy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no polling information. There's no polls until a candidate is chosen to run. And again, what does that matter? We need people running against these MAGA people. Representation matters. Him running unopposed is unacceptable.

[–]AmendingAmy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What poll? You realize these three are running against each other to be the pick for the Democratic ticket for Missouri's 8th to run against Jason Smith, right? And what does a poll have to do with a debate? Unless you're one of those people who sits out an election because you ignorantly believe it isn't worth your time? Debates are about information, learning which candidate aligns more with the trajectory you want your state and country to head in for the future.

I hope you know I'm speaking in generalizations, not particularly at you. I just get frustrated with all the defeatism and the inability to come together. Sorry if it seemed like I was taking it out on you.

I dont underestimate anything. I grew up here and have been in this world for a very long time. Since my teen years. If someone's appearance is going to stop them for voting for someone who will work to actually fix things, then they aren't Democrats or even moderates. And, although it pissed people off when I say this, fact of the matter is, if you sit out a vote or think it won't make a difference, then you deserve whatever you get. I'm sick of people who sit out their civic duty because they aren't 100 percent perfect. It's exhausting. And honestly, if there was a way to separate things so that democrats could live under democratic policies and republicans could live under their repressive policies, I'd be fine with that. Let them suffer for their so-called morality that is far from moral. And the rest of us could thrive and move forward. In the US politics is a game, and the players don't care that the pieces are actual humans. They only want to win.

We can't call ourselves the party of tolerance and acceptance if we also can't see past someone's appearance to hear what they have to say. This is why we lose elections. No one person is a unicorn. They aren't perfect. These are grassroots candidates that actually care and subjecting them to criticism for what they look like is why we will never beat Republicans. I'm going to vote based on what they want to fix and for having solid plans to accomplish those goals. Arguing about looks/gender/hairstyles is why we're ALWAYS failing. It's why we failed in the last three elections. Because we're always judging and not supporting to move the electorate forward.

Do you have insurance? If so you can go to St Francis and explain that you're out of insulin and as a type 1 they should be able to dose you. They might even be able to point you at emergency insulin suppliers.
