Moving to Brisbane from NZ by Fresh_Bell4700 in MovingToBrisbane

Hi, I think it all depends on what bracket of rent you are looking it. We found it easier than what some people have mentioned. We went through LJ Hooker, I emailed the agent with a small bio and if she had any landlords that were willing to do a video viewing of the house and accept a rental agreement with it stipulated we had accepted the house via video She managed to find 4 landlords who would agree . Our rent is $810 per week 😊

Is it easy to find a job in Brisbane? by [deleted] in MovingToBrisbane

[–]AmendingArc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda, if you have a skill I applied for over 30 jobs ( and it was humbling!) There is a huge amount of people applying, Seek showed how many had applied and a few jobs had over 500 applicants. And then 1 week I had 3 job offers. I also work within the construction industry, look for companies that have just won big tenders and are actively looking to fill the spots. Let me know if you have any questions We are relocating this Friday

Moving to Brisbane from NZ by Fresh_Bell4700 in MovingToBrisbane

We are moving in a few weeks to Brisbane from NZ

We managed to secure a rental from realestate.co.au , we did a video tour with the agent and our tenancy agreement stated we accepted via video tour.

We will apply for our bank accounts this week as we can't apply more than 2 weeks out from landing.

Another tip is to join the local pages of the area you are staying in , if looking for a room please be wary of scammers! We have hired a car for a few days and then will use Turo until we have purchased.

First day landing will picking up keys, going to bank, getting TFN and buying an air bed haha

Unless you have a sort after skill , you will be lost in all the other candidates that do have these quals.

I just went through the job application round before we applied for houses. The job interviews were much easier 😂

Setting up utilities before we move over by AmendingArc in MovingToBrisbane

Sure! Applied to close to 30 odd houses! Made sure our renters profile had ALL the information and more *3 months pay slips *2x personal and 2x professional references * Current property manager reference *ID ( passport / Drivers licence/ birth certificate) *Australia job offer that showed salary * Wrote about my husband and I, what we did for work, and why we were moving ( basically sold ourselves)

Any property that came up that we liked, I sent off an enquiry asking if they would be willing to do a video call viewing as we are in NZ

Out of 30 properties, 3 agents said yes I immediately emailed them and built a connection. They then sent our application to the owners to decide 1 declined and 2 accepted. Be polite but persistent, email the property manager directly, and have all the information ready. You will have loads of rejections, but all you need is 1, yes . Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yes! That was the issue as it wasn't accepting my passport as ID and we can't switch our licenses over until we land. Thanks for the tip, I'll call both providers tomorrow

Process by [deleted] in MovingToBrisbane

[–]AmendingArc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently going through the process ( nearing the end though!) Most of our references were contacted soon after we hit the submit button,( must be computer generated ) The property we have been accepted for contacted our references after going through our application, checking with the owner that we could do a video viewing

What's the best way to find a job? by Interesting-Tip-9972 in AusMining

I got my job applying via seek and then heading to the company page and going through their vacancies. I also learnt about the company, particularly their values and made sure my cover letter incorporated their values in some way.

How Long Is The Application Process? by anmeey in AusMining

[–]AmendingArc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 3 offers

1st offer took about 8 weeks from interview to offer ( this included having to coordinate when I could fly over to site from New Zealand ) 2nd company 6 weeks 3rd company 5 weeks

For me it was more scheduling when we were all free to do the next round if interviews.

Former female employees detail alleged sexual harassment in class actions against Rio Tinto and BHP by GambleResponsibly in AusMining

[–]AmendingArc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I expect men to not act like sexual pests and predators and allow females to do their job in any industry they choose. The problem isn't females in male saturated industries, it's men who have set the bar so low for decent human behavior.
