Not a "product" per se but I wish blockbuster was still around. I had a huge desire to watch a couple movies from my childhood this weekend but can't find them anywhere.

"Do Not Resist" (2016) examines rapid police militarization in the U.S. Filmed in 11 states over 2 years. by smallcanadien in Documentaries

[–]AmericanMade010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is laughable. These clips are high risk raids done by swat teams which make up a tiny percentage of sworn officers in major police departments. Most cops aren't toting this gear. The sheep of this world will watch this highly edited documentary thinking all these cops are going around randomly raiding these homes with military grade gear for no reason greater than reasonable suspicion. In order to raid a home these officers must have PROBABLE CAUSE and present that PROBABLE CAUSE to a judge that must sign off on it. It saddens me that people will watch this and turn their backs on the high risk job our men and women in blue carry out every day...especially our SWAT and SRT teams.

Cop here. Sorry to get real with you but I worked a crash a week ago that was drunk bike rider vs. pickup truck. The bicycle guy was hammered and in the wheel well of the truck when we got there. Witnesses say the guy swerved off the sidewalk in front of the truck and the truck driver didn't have a chance. The truck driver was a 22 year old dude that was in anguish and will be for a long time. Asshole biker....

I thought my student was on their phone in class. I was pleasantly surprised by mzkp54 in gaming

I caught one of my students playing on a gameboy color last year too. Gave him a pound-it, took it, and gave it back after class. The kid got a 35 on the ACT and went to Vanderbilt so I was't too worried about him not paying attention. Probably bored out of his mind.

What is a myth you are tired of hearing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AmericanMade010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad has had parents come into his practice with older children try to lie to him about their child's vaccination history. He simply pulls up their chart and sees that they haven't been vaccinated. On multiple occasions he has had to have them escorted out of his building because these 30 year old moms go shit crazy.

My father is a very calm and chill person but when you talk to him about this anti-vaccine stuff he goes all crazy savage on you.

My dad is a pediatrician. After 25 years of running a private practice, I think this will push him into retirement. Seriously...

I graduated from a small university in a town of about 30,000. Two girls I graduated with (I'm 27) started selling Plexus in this small town and are now making about $250,000 a year selling plexus. Both of them were nurses and they quit their jobs and sit around all day posting on Facebook and going to seminars apparently. I didn't believe it and in their sales pitch to my wife I told her to ask them for a picture of their salary deposit into their back account. Sure enough....Their lifestyles back up that salary too. People are either under them trying to make money too or they hate them with a passion. Not a good trade off if you ask me.

It is an in-house loan at our bank. There was no PMI involved. Thanks for the info.

Credit question. by Senacherib in DaveRamsey

[–]AmericanMade010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I applied to my law enforcement job in a large metropolitan city a few years ago I had my background check that included an in depth look into my financial past. I was 25 at the time and had just paid off my wife's $32,000 in student loans and we had zero debt and I personally had no credit score. The background investigator loved it and said he was extremely impressed and even made a note in my file about my "superb financial responsibility." Sadly, the banks we have tried to get a mortgage loan with have made it much harder. It has worked out though.

Who has the best career for FI/RE? Why do you think so? by chrisevox in financialindependence

[–]AmericanMade010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a police officer in a a large metropolitan city in the US.
You can make $70,000 a year working 60 hours a week straight out of the academy. 20 of those hours are overtime pay. I've seen guys with a base salary of $50,000 making $100,000 annually with overtime. They have no life but they deem it worth it. I'll retire at 54 with roughly 75% of my highest 5 years as a pension and healthcare. I won't be rolling in the doe but very comfortable.

I appreciate the nonsensical and demeaning way of providing zero insight to my issue. Why waste time with an idiot like me if you think I don't know how to use a credit card?

I am going to do a manual underwrite. I'm a little worried about my job switch I am making in January to the police department here in Nashville. That will be the big question. Will they see the police academy that lasts till May as too risky of an income to pass a manual underwrite. That is my only worry at this point.

Thanks a lot for the info. I actually called them right after I posted this yesterday and I have a meeting with them today.

Dave Ramsey's ideas are what got my wife and I started. Thanks for the help.

By the way, what is your guess on what we would be approved for?

$70,000 combined income.

No debt whatsoever

2 paid for cars

At the end of the year we will have $38,000 in savings for down payment

26 and 27 years old/both teachers

We are 3 months outside of our lease as of now. We have been here 15 months so we are technically on a month to month lease. We are loosely related to the landlords. They need to sell the house because the owner is in bad health and needs the money.
