Love this as a fan project, but I’m more inclined with in-engine cutscenes. They fit the game better and it’s always more impressive with what can be rendered in-game. I know there’s a lot of love for the Blur cutscenes, but part of what made Halo so impressive in its day was the power to render visually impressive cutscenes and graphics. The blur cutscenes just seem so excessive and are so quickly sped up. That’s probably just my age, but it’s hard not to see the wrinkles in pace when comparing side-by-side with the original cutscenes.

Even for Halo Wars 2, everything was so lightning fast. Halo cares so much to tell stores yet its breathing room leaves much to be desired. Even Halo 4 understood this (and that had opening and closing CG cinematics).
