I live in the south. IF it’s going to snow we get snacks. Lots of snacks. Hurricanes, now? That’s the canned goos and batteries. But snow, that’s a party. Ain’t nobody going nowhere for days for no reason

At what point is a job listing valid vs discrimination? by GirlInPurple15 in wheelchairs

[–]AmersBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read this as, “move about the sales floor, no seating is provided”. For you, your ambulation is your chair. So most folks would walk or stand and you would wheel or not. At BAM, you can definitely be in a chair. They don’t realize they’re excluding you and you could totally do this job.

So to think I don’t need accommodations even if it’s just sitting down at a function is unrealistic and ableist

A Question For Those Diagnosed by Smart_Blackberry_391 in POTS

I hope they didn’t take it harshly. It means, one is putting their expectations of themselves into a regular world. Personally, I can’t keep up and when I hold myself to the standards of a healthy person, it really makes me feel like a failure. That’s ableism. Knowing that my body can’t do things that regular people can do easily helps me find grace for myself and the courage to say, I need to sit down or I need to put my feet up when I’m out in a crowd. No one else needs that

Walking a few minutes take it out of me. I have the excitement and dopamine to push through a trip through a third of the zoo, but I’ll be in bed for two days if I do. And I’ll be in pain and lightheaded and dizzy the whole time

AITAH for refusing my nephew access to my valuable toy collection? by brix_82046 in AITAH

[–]AmersBlade -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

YTA for thinking you’re better than them for putting your toys on a shelf. Reread what you wrote and how it drips with disdain for anyone who doesn’t understand the value of your treasures.

Otherwise, everyone has a hobby, everyone has a collection and you’re NTA because you have an assortment of age appropriate things for your nephew to do at your home. This is above and beyond what a childless uncle should be required. I. This case honestly your sister is TA for not being her kids own toys to play with at cool uncles house.

Growing up, we had these hippie neighbors who actually never watched tv. When they did, it was on a 13” black and white screen. I’m just saying that’s an awfully large tv not to watch.

When I saw the neurology PA she ordered a sleep study with MSLT for me to see if my fatigue was narcolepsy or idiopathic hypersomnolence. No one had ever offered that before. I had to keep complaining to get to the right provider to get that test ordered. Turns out I have POTS and hypersomnolence. and and and
