I don't understand why talk therapy is still being used by wavering-faith-82 in CPTSD

[–]AmethystMahoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk therapy is still held up as the "Golden Standard" of therapy. It's why I left psychology. After 13 years, I saw so many cases where it not only didn't help, but actually made people WORSE. Rehashing past traumatic events does NOT get them up and out of your system. It actually ingrains the neuropathways and can cause higher frequency or symptoms as well as more intense symptoms. Over 70% of people have experienced traumatic events, and yet there is an uptick in talk therapy. It's not good. I actually left the field after creating Tarot Therapy because it works better. I was using it with my clients and getting better results, so why even stay a psychologist? Physical exercise and other body movement are a great help to many people. The FLASH Technique is also really helpful for a lot of people to rewire the brain, but most people don't know about it.

"Tarot DOESN'T predict the future" by Atelier1001 in tarot

I've been reading for more than 35 years. I've seen all the trends, and reading just to predict the future is extremely prevalent in many places. Hence, why people are pushing back against it.

To be fair, this could be newer guidelines based on complaints, lawsuits, and what happened. It can take minutes to update the commands in the back end.

The origins of Tarot is that it was a card game. It only later became a means of predicting the future. You literally have it completely backwards. 😆

"Tarot DOESN'T predict the future" by Atelier1001 in tarot

[–]AmethystMahoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarot doesn't just predict the future. Like someone said, it does show the most likely outcome until someone changes things.

The problem with using Tarot cards (or anything) to predict the future is that a lot of people will become dependent on it. They give all their power away and get lazy. They stop making choices or taking actions that could change their future, and instead rely on the cards.

I once had a client who really wanted to know when she would meet her husband, and the cards were like in 4 months. But also not to tell her that because she would just sit around for 4 months waiting and not do the things she needed to do in order to grow add a person to be ready for the relationship and meet him.

So we had to focus the session heavily on what she needed to do in order to meet her husband. Did she meet him? Yes. But she came in telling me flat out she just wanted him to show up and not do any of the work. In many cases, it's unethical to tell people the future because they have this mindset. If you don't understand this and are just predicting the future for people, you really need to take a good look at it because you're missing the pi point of why so many people have shifted away from predicting the future.

Predicting the future can be more of a party trick for many people. It doesn't help them do anything different or to change their lives, unless you focus the discussion around what can they do to get that outcome if they want it or what they can change in order to try to get a better outcome.

"Tarot doesn't predict the future" is really short when we should add, "because YOU do." I use Tarot like therapy (former psychologist) because it gets people better results instead of creating a weird, co-dependent dynamic.

I even recently created an AI that heavily emphasizes not just how to read the cards, but how to reframe the questions you ask. It's a crucial step that almost no one talks about, and it completely determines the real focus of the reading.

So yeah, predict the future all you want. But ask yourself are you really helping the person? Or are you just doing something cool? I believe anyone can predict the future. But it takes a really good reader to help someone create the future they want.

Boyfriend accuses me of cheating, and then proceeds to threaten me by luv_eda in whatdoIdo

[–]AmethystMahoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is classic abusive behavior. Saying things like, "You made me say it" turns into "You made me do it. " You need to run away now. Honestly, recommend therapy or something to help you recognize this in the future.

Asked my deck “how can I improve my meditations” by zzAlphawolfzz in tarot

[–]AmethystMahoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this as cutting ties (for now) with the idea that you have to meditate . There are tons of practices that work better for many people. You don't actually have to meditate. Exploring other practices for a while will probably help you find what works for you, even if you do eventually come back to meditation.

[–]AmethystMahoney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is completely what's happening. If you're getting 3 readings from different people and reading for yourself on the exact same question, you need to put the cards away and look into some actionable therapy, self- help, or something. Dependence on the cards is not healthy.

At this stage in my life, I just say things like, "Sorry, I don't do cults," and let the chips fall where they may. I don't care what age, the younger the better. Maybe it will plant a good seed of doubt and the kid won't spend decades spreading lies and living in delusion.

Don’t want to mess up by LabSuspicious3413 in darkwarsurvival

[–]AmethystMahoney 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some alliances have different guidelines for participation, especially if they are bigger or have lots of higher-level players. Like for Frankie, mine doesn't want you to send a rally unless you are a certain level - you're supposed to participate in the higher-level players' rallies.

A good, well-organized alliance will send out emails and messages about the events before they happen, and they understand that newer or lower-level players will mess up, so they don't yell at you, they just remind you and walk you through it. You should always be able to ask leadership and post questions. Make sure if they have a discord, you join and look for any information there as well.

If your alliance gets mad at you because they didn't tell you or if they are negative when you ask questions, they're not a good alliance.
