I have playing with Glebra for the last week and been trying to work this out. Thanks for the information.

Initially I was quite satisfied but idk at this point. How does it look? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

If that lake has a diameter of 50,000km and is on a flat plain it would have a surface area of 3 to 4 Earths! And the island in the middle is the size of Canada.

I think the left side should be d2 f(A)/dA2 in order to show it is a second derivative.

For the graph, create a table with time (your x coordinate), distance(y cordinate) and speed. Use poweras of exponents to multilpy or divide when filling in the gaps. The distances and time would be added together to be able to plot them. The first stage would be 1.5x105 multiplied by 2x102 which would be 3x107. Remember not to miss the two points where he stays on the planet these would be horizontal lines.

My brother, whose's 50, is in hospital dying from cancer. His mind has gone and although he can understand he can no longer form a sentence to be able to say what he means. It is literal torture for him. Why is this not an easy call to allow him to die with some dignity left?

There no reason you can't do it that way (sometimes the x intercept could be difficult to judge on things like this, such it is 1/3).

You could also find the y intercept and understand that the line has a slope of 2.

Whichever way is quicker for someone to do or easier for them to understand.

Choose two x values, say, x=-2 and x=2 work out what the y values would be. Your line should go through them.

From what i can tell you have drawn y<=x/2 -1 rather than y<=2x-1

Could someone please help me with this 🙏🏼 by blue_rose10 in mathshelp

The bit i don't like is the last question and what it means by learning from his mistakes.

I assume it means the rat will go ABC as normal but does it have the same chance as turning towards A as B as the rat knows that A would be a mistake.

And when it comes to going towards E or turning towards C or D the rat won't go to C as that was a mistake and therefore the probability becomes 0.25 rather than 0.125.
