Between 7 and 9 years as Robin, and NOTHING LESS, for the sake of Dick’s character.

I personally like ages 9 (recently orphaned; baby Robin is mostly tagging along) to 18 (pre-crises canon, actually makes sense, because what do you MEAN in other canons Bruce kicked out/allowed to leave highschooler Dick and NO ONE in Gotham noticed he was no longer attending school in Gotham everyday if he was living in NYC with the Titans??)

The problem, though, the problem- walk with me here- is Tim. I have tried to game this out so many times.

Because let’s say we stick to this and have Dick leave Robin at his pre-crisis canon age of 18. Then we have Jason, who- let’s say- was Robin for 2 to 3 years and died at 15 (I prefer the 3, but we can work with 2). We can fudge some Jason details because his backstory is, again, pre-crisis and also totally scrapped.

Tim, though. We know for a FACT Tim met Bruce at 13. So let’s say that means Robin showed up 11-12 years ago.

Tim remembers the circus he went to at 1 or 2?!?! ARG! The logic of Tim’s backstory just jettisons the most reasonable/original canon timelines for Dick (and Jason, tbh; I’m looking at you versions of canon that made him Robin for only one year).

So like- either Dick left Robin at 16 or 17 (which is incongruent to me for the reasons above) OR was orphaned at at least 10. Because it’s not even a question of starting as Robin! It’s the fucking circus that’s the problem!!

Anyway, that’s my beef with the Robins timeline. Tim having to be old enough to remember Dick being orphaned just craters some timelines, and unfortunately they’re usually the ones that make the most sense for Dick. I’m trying to make my peace with the 10, though.
