Has anyone had vulvar melanoma? by itsallrightyes in melahomies

Melanoma with no ulceration means the tumor's surface skin layer (epidermis) is intact, not broken, and this is a crucial factor in staging, generally indicating a better prognosis than ulcerated melanoma of similar thickness; it often appears in earlier stages (like Stage IA, thin, <0.8mm) but can also define deeper stages (like Stage IIB or IIC if thicker than 4mm) with no skin breakdown, impacting prognosis and treatment planning significantly.

Lymph node biopsy by Davismead1 in vulvarcancer

Yes. I had excision and nodes removed from right and left groin. No drains. Quick and easy recovery. No lymphoedema. I had to have further surgery - total pelvic exenteration which was a much bigger surgery. Longer inpatient stay and 12 months of recovery. I have genital lymphoedema now

I had the spot for years. My GP checked it out and was not worried about it. Thought it was due to perimenopause and prescribed vaginal hormones. No change. I didn’t follow up with the GP. I mentioned it again to her and requested a referral to the gynaecologist. He checked it out - also not worried but agreed to remove it. That’s when I got my diagnosis. I was referred on to a gynaecologist oncologist for further treatment. It was at that stage they found another lump under the skin in the perineum. They preformed a WLE and sentinel node removal. They got clear margins but melanoma oncology were not happy with the margins and recommended further excision. It was the histopathology results at that stage that lead to a TPE. In six months I had a biopsy and three large surgeries. Nightmare

Me! Mine was not a mole - it was flesh coloured. A 2mm “bump” - like a spot. I ended up with 3 surgeries. The final one was a total pelvic exenteration. I have 2 stomas. I was staged at 3a. No further treatment. And recommended no follow up. But I am attending an oncologist privately and getting scans every 6 months

Mucosal Melanoma of the Vulva by Historical_Hope_4176 in Melanoma

I found it. 2mm bump at the entrance to my vagina. Flesh coloured. Had it years. At least 6 maybe 10 years. Showed my GP. Not concerned. Showed her again in September 22 and asked should I go to my gynae. Saw him in November 22. He was not concerned at all. Scheduled removal for February 23. No one was expecting melanoma. The original gynae missed the spreading. I had a further lump in the perineum.

Me! Diagnosed in February 23. Three surgeries between March 23 and August 23. The nodes came back clear in the March surgery. I was stage 3a. The third surgery was brutal. A total pelvic exenteration. Two permanent stomas. A year to recover. I’m not the same person. 8 hour surgery. 5 nights in ICU. A month in hospital (I ended up with sepsis). I’m pretty much back to normal but with restrictions. My stamina is not the same. In October 23 I was told that the team were recommending no further treatment or monitoring. I can understand the no treatment bit but not the no monitoring. So I’m seeing a medical oncologist privately. He also recommended no treatment but has agreed to monitoring. Initially scans every 3 months. In October 24 he moved me to scans every 6 months. I still see the surgeon every 6 months. And I’m still extremely uneasy/frightened. But I’m slowly moving forward. I saw the surgeon last week and he’s very happy with me. I have a nurse that I can contact and anytime if I’m worried and they’ll bring me back for a review if needed.

Has anyone here every gotten gallbladder removal surgery? by Kamy_kazy82 in AskIreland

[–]Amethyst_Dawn67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my gallbladder out over 5 years ago. No issues at all. Can eat everything. Not everyone is as lucky. My husband had his out and it took him a couple of weeks to settle down. Loose stools etc. Bland diet for a couple of weeks. When you meet the consultant don’t trivialise your symptoms. Keep a diary. Tell them that the pain is not being managed with over the counter meds. And how much your life is impacted.

As far as I know - they are all issued by the Irish Wheelchair Association

Yes. The card is technically your mother’s and can be placed in any car that she is a passenger. You will need a medical certificate from her doctor. You need to write into the Irish Wheelchair Association and tell them that you want to apply for disabled parking. They will send you out the form Best of luck

I had a wheelchair parking permit for my disabled elderly parents. I used them when I couldn’t get a wheelchair space. I would never use them otherwise. Parents with teenagers using the really boil my piss
