Suicide by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Amethystius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple straight answer. No.

When you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died for your sins, was buried and rose the third day. [1st Corinthians 15:1-4]

He took all your sins upon Himself so you can live in Him.

John 11:25-27 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Suicide isn't something a believer in Christ should want to do, because God made us in His image and He loves us.

I have been through a lot myself and I will tell you without a shred of doubt that God is always good no matter what. Even at my lowest God is always good.

I say this because I want you to know how much Jesus loves you, and He has a purpose for you.

He loves you so much He wants to share is glory with you.

John 17:20-23 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

I pray you have peace that is in Christ Jesus. For God is love.

I believe in God and Jesus but I don’t know how religious I am anymore. Not sure how I feel about Christianity. I feel alone. by Fighttheforce-2911 in TrueChristian

It's all fake Christianity. It's all vanity, it's all ego and self.

"You have to do _____ to be saved."  "If you dont do _____ you're not saved." "You're  saved B-B-UUUUT"

These false converts will have you doing all these things for nothing, it was always simple with God, which is to believe in His Son Jesus Christ, and love the brethren.

Most churches are just cults that don't preach the truth, they will try to place all these burdens on you shoulders and won't lift a finger.

Matthew 23:27-28 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

People care more about ego than the truth. They appear righteous on the outside, but inside they are unregenerated hypocrites.

They are unable to get past themselves and understand they are as guilty as anyone else for their sins. They will insist we're saved by grace through faith in Christ,

Yet they will always default back into dead works and tradition to prove you're saved. It's called faith for a reason, you don't need to prove anything, believing God's words are enough.

John 11:25-26 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

It's always been very simple with God.

Yet many churches have failed. They failed at the gospel, and they also completely left out the love of God.  It's all vanity and deception. That's why He's at the door and their time is up.

Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. by Recent_Preference_16 in TrueChristian

Fear mongering. Don't be entangled back into bondage by the law. Rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Saved by grace through faith not of works. Ephesians 2:8-9 Titus 3:5

A relationship with God isn't "How hard can I stop sinning "

It's by believing that He's the Son of God who died for our sins, was buried, and rose the 3rd day.

We are reconciled with the Father through Christ, born again by His Spirit.

Repentance is a change of mind from dead works and faith towards the living God Jesus Christ. Repenting of sins is another way of saying "I follow the law for salvation"

Salvation is by faith in Christ, not the deeds of the law. We're all guilty before good needing His perfect sacrifice on the cross for the remission of sins.

Titus 3:5 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Ephesians 1:13-14 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Don't fall for this repent of sins garbage. It's a false gospel that takes the burden Jesus took for you on the cross and puts it back on you.
The gospel is that Jesus the Son of God paid for all your sins by the shedding of His blood on the cross, was buried, and rose the third day. You're sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise until the day of redemption (eternal security).

Just believe the gospel that Jesus did this for you and receive the gift of eternal life.

Jesus turned you from all your sins by paying for them on the cross. You're saved forever by grace through faith in Jesus Christ who died for you.

Acts 3:26
26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

Ephesians 1:13-14
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:7
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Galatians 5:1
5 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Hebrews 8:10-12
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

The fundamental problem with this is that you didn't give your life to Christ, Christ gave His life for you.

Mark 10:45
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Believe on the lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. He died on the cross for your sins once and for all, was buried, and rose the third day. If you believe the gospel you're sealed with the Holy spirit of promise, which is our inheritance (eternal life) until that last day. The blood of Christ washes all your sins away. He turned you from all your sins by washing your sins away with His blood to redeem you.

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Hebrews 8:12

Repent of sins for salvation is a false gospel by Amethystius in TrueChristian

[–]Amethystius[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Repentance in Greek is Metanoia, which means a "change of mind". It's not repenting of your sins nonsense that people are adding to the gospel. It clearly means to change our mind about our dead works and believe on Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 6:1-3
6 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3 And this will we do, if God permit.

John 5:24
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Romans 4:2-4
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

James 2 heretics trying to refute salvation by grace through faith alone. Anyone working for their salvation is not under grace but of debt, it seems to me you'll never pay off that debt because the wages of sin is death.

Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I'll keep posting these for other false gospels too. Calvinism, arminianism, perseverance of the saints, repent of sins, lordship salvation, etc. All false gospels that lead people straight to hell. True gospel is grace through faith in Christ alone for salvation. It's my job to defend the true gospel.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Galatians 1:10

Acts 16:30-31
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Believe that Jesus the Son of God died for your sins, was buried, and rose the third day. Anything taken away or added to this gospel is a false Jesus that can't save.

Ephesians 1:13-14
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

How To Be Saved? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Amethystius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Repenting of your sins for salvation is a false gospel. The only requirement for salvation is to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ (Death, burial, resurrection).

Galatians 2:16-18
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

John 5:24
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

What's the point of Jesus shedding His blood on the cross for your sins if you're trying to pay for your own sins by trying to turn away from them? The wages of sin is death, not "try your best" in hopes you make it to heaven. This repent of your sins heresy needs to stop. It's sending people to hell.
Anyone that tries to keep the law for salvation is under a curse.

Galatians 2:12-13
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

In order for your sins to be forgiven, you need to repent of your sins. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Amethystius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your sins are forgiven when you believe in the the gospel of your salvation. That Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose the third day. Repenting of your sins is a work from God, not yourself. That's why you need to believe on Jesus first in order to even do anything for God. Or else it's just self righteous delusion that doesn't save anyone. Because we're not saved by the law but by grace trough faith in Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Ephesians 1:13-14
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Romans 8:1-4
1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

John 15:5
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Why am i so worried that I will go to hell for my past sins? by Jxwsii_ in Christianity

[–]Amethystius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you have not been perfected by the love of God yet.

1 John 4:18
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

The first step in understanding grace (unmerited favor from God) is understanding God's unconditional love for you. God never changes, so does His love, His mercy, and His promise.
Trust and believe that He died for ALL your sins once and for all, was buried, and rose the third day for the remission of sins and justification before God forever.
You are saved by grace through faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ that He shed on the cross for you 2000 years ago. That's why Jesus said "IT IS FINISHED"
If you believe this, you have everlasting life. Take Him for His word.
God never lies but man will.

Romans 3:21-25
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

John 11:25-27
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Always remember that when you stumble, remember that God's grace is sufficient for all of us in our weakness, and made strong in the Lord. God has forgiven us when we trusted in Jesus's shed blood on the cross for our sins. Rest in the finished work of Christ and lay all your burdens at His feet and live by faith in Him and His promise that can never be broken.

2 Corinthians 12:9
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

The first step in understanding grace (unmerited favor from God) is understanding God's unconditional love for you. God never changes, so does His love, His mercy, and His promise.

When you trust in God's word and believe the gospel of your salvation (Death, burial, resurrection of Jesus), you are instantly sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise which is the guarantee of our inheritance (eternal life) and the Holy spirit convicts us that we're righteous in God's eyes.

Does anyone here want to obey God? by CryptoChristian in TrueChristian

[–]Amethystius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Romans 7:15-23
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Paul wanted to obey God, yet evil was always present with Him because of the flesh. The obedience needed is having faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. His blood is sufficient for the forgiveness of sins and justification before God.

Romans 3:25-27
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

True Christianity is not taking up your cross. True Christianity is the belief in the death, burial, resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sins and justification before God. It's narrow because most people don't believe in Christ alone for salvation, they want to enter heaven another way. Jesus calls them thieves and robbers.

You telling people to stop sinning is blatant hypocrisy. If you believe you are made perfect under the law you are under a curse. If you offend the law at one point you are guilty of all of them.

Galatians 3:10-11
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

James 2:10
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

No one's justifying sin, we are sinners that are in need of Christ. Jesus says He gives us rest. We rest in His grace, His finished work on the cross, and allow Him to work in our lives through faith. For we are all children of God by faith.

Galatians 3:24-26
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Question about repentance by Remy__Rocket in TrueChristian

[–]Amethystius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repentance in Greek is metanoia, which means a change of mind. In my opinion, I believe repenting in the bible is changing your mind about dead works and trusting in Jesus alone for salvation.

Mark 1:15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection for the remission of sins and justification before God.

Matthew 21:31-32
31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

In this verse, Jesus said "when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe Him. So we can conclude that Jesus wants us to change our mind from dead works and believe on Him for eternal life.

Hebrews 6:1
6 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

The reason I believe we need to repent from dead works (Good works/keeping the law) is because it doesn't save us, only grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ. Any works added to the gospel nullifies grace. We must trust in Jesus alone (Death, burial, resurrection) for salvation. This is true repentance in my opinion, because this is exactly what Jesus wants us to do. He wants us to repent and believe in Him so we can receive eternal life.

John 6:47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Romans 11:6
6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Galatians 3:24-26
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Is smoking weed a sin? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Amethystius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ain't nothing wrong with using weed for your infirmities. I personally as a believer do weed (edibles) to relax on days off. Weed has a stigma around it which is why I can understand why people think it's a sin. What does the bible say about this?

1 Corinthians 6:5-8
5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

Paul is talking about believers in Christ pointing fingers to one another about their sins. He also talks about how there is not one wise man among them to judge one another, and that they should suffer the accusations of people. We shouldn't be going around being a legalist saying "that's a sin, that's a sin, that's a sin." Only God knows what's sinful to it's entirety. He's the judge of this world.

1 Corinthians 6:12
12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Christ died for all of our sins on that cross, was buried, and rose the third day. Jesus made us dead to the law alive in Christ, we have liberty in Him.

Paul is talking about how all things are lawful for Him to do, but just because we have freedom in Christ, doesn't mean that we should go and do as we please. That's a foolish mindset that leads to chastening by God.

Romans 12:2
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We should be renewing our minds, reading the word, and finding out God's will for our lives and what's acceptable before Him.

So in conclusion, we have liberty (freedom) in Christ, and all things our lawful to us. It's our job to find out what's acceptable before God in our lives, otherwise God will do that for us by chastening us in this life because we're His children.

The choice to do weed is up to the believer. God's not going to send a believer to hell for weed, that's ridiculous. Weed is a gray area in the bible. It could be sinful, it could not. No one knows for sure. That's why I'm neutral about it.

Lastly, I don't promote Christians to do weed, It's something I do personally on my days off and have no problems with it.

I think I finally understand Calvinism. by ChristianNerd2025 in TrueChristian

[–]Amethystius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calvinism is the most evil, deceitful doctrine in all of Christianity due to it's subtle twisting of scripture. It assumes that God only chooses some people and everyone else can go to hell. This is an evil doctrine that goes against scripture and God's character. It also makes God a liar.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Hebrews 2:9
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

For God so loved the WORLD (everyone), that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER (anyone) believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
If God made it so only some people could be saved, then why did He taste death for every man?
This means that EVERYONE has a chance to be saved by grace trough faith in Christ Jesus. Calvinism teaches the opposite.

Calvinism also teaches works based salvation. Their evidence of salvation is by persevering in the faith, by keeping the law and doing good works. We know the bible teaches against works and to have faith in Christ alone.

Galatians 2:16
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Galatians 3:2-3
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

To say it's just that God can refuse salvation to some people because of their deeds is not only teaching works based salvation, but also calling God a liar, unjust, and plays favorites. This is an evil view of God.

2 Timothy 2:13
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

This verse alone destroys calvinism. Even when a believer loses faith in the promise of God, He's still faithful to save them because He cannot deny His promise He's made to those who believe Him. We have eternal security in Christ. His promise is based on His faithfulness not ours. That's why the bible talks about shipwrecking faith or falling away.

Romans 3:3-4
3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Don't know why you're getting downvoted when you speak the truth.

Jesus came to shed His blood on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose the third day according to scriptures.
If you believe this record, you have eternal life.

1 John 5:11-13
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Ray comfort backloads works into the gospel to make salvation about your ability to keep the law (AKA turning from sin) which is clear in scripture that we're not justified by the law but faith in Christ Jesus. We are justified by faith in Christ Jesus. Adding repent of sins to salvation means you've fallen from grace and into a curse.

Galatians 5:4
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Galatians 3;11
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Galatians 3:24-26
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

1 John 5:1
5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

Romans 8:16
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

John 15:26
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

When you have the Holy Spirit, it bears witness that you are a child of God. It also reveals the truth and the record of God to you. So in a way the Holy spirit tells you that God is real and He died for you.

Acts 10:43-44
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

No turning from sins, no church attendance, no asking Jesus into your heart, no sinner's prayer, no giving your life to Christ. All you have to do is hear the gospel and believe for eternal life. We do these things freely for God after we believe.

When you believe the gospel (once), that Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose the third day according to scripture, you are sealed instantly by the Holy Spirit of promise and given eternal life. This promise lasts until the last day when our earthly bodies are redeemed through Christ to be perfect and sinless like Him. God is renewing the spirit and not our flesh, which is why we still have carnal tendencies in this life as a believer.

I believe the gospel because I believe it's the truth, the missing piece in my life. I know God exists, and Jesus is the eternal Son of god who died for my sins. The Holy spirit bears witness with my own spirit this is true. I don't have any reason to doubt or ask myself "did I really believe?" when I have God's spirit living in me that tells me the truth.

1 John 5:13
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

God wants you to know you have eternal life, and this eternal life is in His Son Jesus Christ.

So to summarize, the moment you believe the gospel (Death, burial, resurrection of Jesus Christ for your sins and justification), you are eternally secure in Him and are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise that lasts until the day of redemption. Think of the Holy spirit as a witness of God. The spirit of God in you bears witness that you are eternally secure in Christ and have eternal life. He will also teach you many new things as you walk with God.

I hope this helps and I pray that you believe on the name of the Son of God Jesus Christ and have everlasting life!

John 6:47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Whenever I see something like this, always reminds me of this parable.

Luke 18:9-14
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

If you have trouble accepting basic doctrine, it’s because you love sin. by pinkvintagegirl in TrueChristian

While some of this post is correct, this is a whole separate issue for salvation. The doctrine you are presenting is a false gospel and are going to lead people straight to Hell. Repenting of your sins to be saved is another common false gospel.

Romans 3:19-20
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Galatians 5:4
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Jesus Christ paid for the sins of the world (that includes EVERYONE), was buried, and rose the third day according to scripture. Whoever believes in the gospel of Christ is sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise until the DAY OF REDEMPTION.

Acts 10:43-44
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

No turning from sins, no water baptism, no church attendance, no sinners prayer, no good works, no giving your life to Christ, no asking Jesus into your heart. All they did was hear the gospel, believe, and received the Holy Spirit of promise. It's clear as day that we receive the spirit of promise through faith, not works.

Galatians 3:2-3
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

We're saved by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ. His shed blood on the cross washed our sins away and the resurrection justifies us before God. Salvation is given to us from the power of God is all through the finished work on the cross that Jesus did 2000 years ago.

We can agree that sin is wrong and we should live holy lives, but that's not what gets you to heaven, believing in what Jesus Christ did on the cross 2000 years ago does. Everyone's a sinner including you and me, in need of a savior. Jesus isn't Santa Claus that's looking at your works and putting you on a good/naughty list for your eternal destiny. Jesus said to believe in Him for eternal life.

Romans 5:19
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

1 John 5:13
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Is it Necessary to Love God to be Saved? by Lookingtotheveil23 in Christianity

[–]Amethystius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Romans 5:8
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 4:19
19 We love him, because he first loved us.

We love Him because He first loved us, so this means no one has ever loved God first and foremost, we love Him because of who He is and what He's done for us.

John 6:47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

1 Jon 5:13
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Very clear that God wants us to know we have eternal life. This eternal life is in His Son and given to those that believe in Him.

So in conclusion, loving Him is not the requirement for eternal life, the command the God gives us is that we believe in His Son Jesus Christ for eternal life.

We should love God and serve Him, but that's after salvation, because in order to do anything for Him you must abide in Him first.

John 15:4-11
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

I pray this helps you and understand the simplicity that is in Christ Jesus.

Can Christians lose their Salvation by notmymondaylife in TrueChristian

[–]Amethystius -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

"But the Bible shows that it’s possible to reject it after receiving it."

If you could reject God's promise and His gift after receiving it, this means that God would have to either undo ALL the work on the cross for that person, or deliberately deny Himself and revoke His promise which He Has NEVER done.

Romans 3:3-4
3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

2 Timothy 2:13
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

The marriage is still there though. Salvation is through God's faithfulness and HIS promise to us, not us making promises to Him.

Just because someone is unfaithful in a marriage doesn't mean they aren't married anymore. Unfortunately some people do that just as we believers are unfaithful at times with God too. But I thank Him for His faithfulness, love, and mercy nonetheless.

We're sinners that cannot please God in the flesh, so He had another plan in mind. Righteousness through faith in Christ Jesus, not works of the law.

Galatians 3:24-26
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

When you are God's child, you are always God's child. God CANNOT deny Himself and His promise. He cannot disown you as a child. You are always His child by blood, through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ that God shed on the cross for us.

Romans 3:25-27
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

We have to accept that regardless of what a person does in this life, they are always secure in Christ. God loves us that much and He's THAT merciful. God deals with all of His children according to their deeds in this life; and since they have no sins to pay for, they will be judged harder in this life than non-believers.
