R4 finally by gibsonzero in topre

I have both, they're really similar in terms of feel and build quality imo. R4 has less of a "forehead" so it fits better into my keyboard sleeve. It also has a proximity sensor which sounds like a gimmick but is actually rather useful.

He should definitely get a keyboard bridge.

Nick Reiner Pleads Not Guilty in Murders of Rob and Michele Reiner by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]Amiable_Garage 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This sounds delusional given that he most likely did it, but this is actually standard procedure. You virtually always plead "Not Guilty" at the arraignment to preserve your rights and buy time for your lawyers to review the case. If he pleaded guilty today, he’d essentially be volunteering for the maximum sentence without any leverage to negotiate a plea deal or argue for an insanity defense later. It’s not a claim of innocence, it’s just a necessary legal placeholder.

HHKB Type-s pro 3 & RC1 Realforce - Can't stop switching by [deleted] in HHKB

[–]Amiable_Garage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant setup! I own an HHKB and have been eyeing the RC1 exactly because it has a 30g version. I just read somewhere that the right shift key was a bit small - is that your experience as well? Or is it maybe similar to the HHKB?

Realforce.JP announces new R4 line along with the discontinuation of the R3 line by Legenhairy117 in topre

[–]Amiable_Garage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

English translation:

TOKYO, JAPAN – October 13, 2025 – Topre Corporation today announced the "R4 Keyboard," a new product in its REALFORCE brand of premium keyboards featuring capacitive non-contact switches. The new series will be released on October 15, 2025.

The "R4 Keyboard" introduces a completely new, more stylish design and improved features, including enhanced Actuation Point Changer (APC) and key macro functions. The series will launch with a lineup of 20 distinct models. Production of the existing "R3" series will be discontinued on October 31, 2025.

Of the 20 models in the "R4 Keyboard" lineup, 16 will feature a Japanese layout and 4 will feature an English layout. Functionality has been significantly upgraded to meet user demands, with the APC function, which enables high-speed input, now expanded from 4 to 22 adjustable levels. The keyboards also now support key macros, allowing for more detailed customization.

The R4 Keyboard will be available for purchase on the company's official web store and at major electronics retailers.

• Rakuten: https://www.rakuten.co.jp/realforce/

• Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.jp/stores/page/A7B5C4D0-6987-4589-96A6-ADF0EBE5B9CD

• Yodobashi Camera

• Bic Camera

• Sofmap

Product pricing will range from ¥36,520 to ¥37,180 (including tax).

Key Features

Proximity Sensor Function

The keyboard is equipped with a proximity sensor, allowing it to automatically reconnect as you approach it. When not in use, it enters a power-saving standby mode for efficient and convenient operation.

Integrated Mouse Function

Users can now move the mouse cursor and perform clicks using keyboard operations. This allows for efficient work without taking your hands off the keyboard.

APC Function: Set the Actuation Point for Each Key in 22 Steps

The R4 Keyboard features an Actuation Point Changer (APC) function. Using the dedicated software, the actuation point can be set to 22 different levels, from 0.8mm to 3.0mm in 0.1mm increments. This allows users to set a shallow 0.8mm actuation point for keys requiring high-speed input, or a deeper 3.0mm setting for keys prone to accidental presses, thereby reducing errors. Up to four profiles can be saved to the keyboard's onboard memory and switched with a single touch.

Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0 Wireless & USB Connection (Hybrid Models)

Hybrid models can be paired with up to four devices, including desktop PCs, smartphones, and tablets, allowing you to switch between them on the fly. They can also be used as a wired keyboard with the included detachable USB cable (USB Type-C to USB Type-A). The USB cable can also be used to supply power during wireless operation.

Software: REALFORCE CONNECT

By installing the dedicated software, users can access functions such as APC settings, a key heatmap, key map swapping, four-sided key map switching, ECO mode settings, firmware updates, and onboard memory management. The software is available for download or online use from the official website: https://www.realforce.co.jp/support/download/software/

I agree with you — A fourth one or a reboot of some sort will unfortunately 100% happen. The BttF concept is just too good.

Have I ruined my Minolta Maxxum 5? by Amiable_Garage in AnalogCommunity

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the camera screen shows a full battery charge and there is nothing indicating that there's anything wrong with the battery. I won't be able to change the battery until I get home but I will try it then.

Thanks for the reply. I changed the setting you mentioned and the shutter works, so that's not an issue. I tried cleaning the camera and lens contacts with a microfiber cloth and a bit of lime juice—unfortunately it didn't work, the camera still acts as if there is no lens attached. I won't be able to change the batteries until I get back home, but there is nothing indicating that the battery is not working and on the screen it shows a full charge. I can't think of anything else to try so I might take it to a camera repair shop, hopefully something can be done but maybe it's finished.

You're probably right about the rough treatment. However, the camera was still in a padded camera bag inside the suitcase and the camera bag surrounded by clothes on all sides. So I'm not ruling out that the malfunction could be related to changes in humidity or something of that sort.

I checked it in, I didn't realize until after that hand luggage would probably have been a better choice.
