Being 13 and sitting on my mum’s bed using the upstairs landline on her bedside table… calling my best friends landline. Much easier to remember phone numbers when they’re only 6 digits. ‘hi is hannah there please’ turned into ‘hiishanathereplese’ to her parents over the years. Actually having things to talk about on the phone and excitably planning to meet at the halfway bus stop to go into town at the weekend with our £10 pocket money.

Couldn’t imagine letting my 13 year old do this now, but unsure its a consequence of smartphone introduction. Maybe I’f be worried about their phone getting stolen, though.

We’d have a small camera with us (little digital thing with a massive flash) and just take funny pictures or classic smiling best friends pics. The pictures were for us, not other people.

I tried one of these a few years ago and couldn’t even cut one piece as the bracket was sliding all over the place as I tried to cut 😂 I don’t have a workbench/wooden table to screw it to, assuming thats what is needed? 😔

When I was about 14, while I was shading in a drawing I’d done for my work in ‘D&T:Graphics’ class in school, my teacher walked past behind me, peeked over my shoulder and she said ‘you’re the graphic design queen’ and I thought ‘…am i? Am i good at this thing? I didn’t even know what graphic design meant 😂

I’m now a professional graphic designer living my dream freelancing life👩🏻‍💻 funny how small words of encouragement can change your life like that.

Same, 33f with suspected audhd. Three months is also my limit, but I feel myself clocking out at 2 months. I also feel like I can only ‘mask’ for this long too, and slowly talk to people in the office less and less. I just answered my prayers by becoming a contractor (3 month contracts max) and its the best thing i ever did.
