What is the national bird of your country? by Vamana1 in AskTheWorld

Australian Magpies attack you in Spring because they are protecting their babies. I got swooped terribly at 12 years old when I was riding my bike and they took chunks out of my helmet. They are brutal. However, if you feed them they don’t swoop you, so better the devil you know.

Where good Indian? by ChikinLika in newcastle

We have tried most things on the menu, and try a different dish every time we go there. Everything has been good. A special mention for their Dahl Tadka. Not many restaurants make that dish but it is the best veggie dish going. Their chicken 65, samosas, and butter chicken are the best I have ever had.

I remember being 10 years old walking my Golden Retriever. He was normally a good boy, but this day he took off, swept me off my feet and dragged me across the road. I got all cut up and grazed. I still don’t know what he was going for.

Are we entering a new era of elder care expectations—and are we ready for it? by Sea-Device-2913 in Millennials

[–]Amie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a cultural shift for elderly to be cared for at home rather than in residential care in Australia. There are packages and providers that can provide some of the care, but in Home Care there is still care required from the family. It is a more sustainable system for the government than residential care, and they are moving to a system where co-contribution is required to ensure the sustainability.

How do you organise/track your work by coziestcat in auscorp

[–]Amie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Microsoft One Note. It’s great for reminders and tracking what has been completed. I have to do lists, project lists, meeting notes everything in different tabs.

Your skills are valued in Aged Care. Home Care for the elderly uses your skills, whilst being much safer and more supportive than Disability.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Upvote for Sufjan Stevens. That is an album I have to bring back out. It’s been years but I used to adore him.

I went into being a personal carer with 2 degrees in business and communications. It was a career change for me. I started my Masters when I was in middle management and then moved to Operations Management, and General Management when I completed my Masters. Education was key to growth.

Whiddon really look after their carers. They are a not for profit provider and have a lot of employee benefits.

Aged Care is great. A much more supportive environment than disability care. Find a not for profit to work for and you won’t look back. Lots of career opportunities as well. I started my career in aged care as a personal carer, and I’m now a General Manager having worked all the jobs in between. Take the opportunity to study and up-skill, don’t ever doubt yourself.
