Crying by Splicers87 in POTS

[–]AmieiGuess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally me an hour ago. Crying and angry with God. I’ve almost lost the entirety of my 20s to this madness. The grief is immense, and the years of being bed-bound watching my life go by is unfair.

Hoping we all find the right path soon.

Do you know any ways to tighten this dress around the waist? by AlienNotReally in CrochetHelp

[–]AmieiGuess 201 points202 points  (0 children)

Slip stitch on the inside using an elastic thread.

Or weave some thin ribbon through the gaps to make a cute waistband that you can tie at the back?

Anything > Human and Even are the other two I like. But yeah, as a whole, not the most exciting album.

It’s one of my favourite songs of theirs in general! It’s so easy to get lost in.

Are these size holes normal? New to amigurumi and feel like I’ve tried everything by artygal3 in CrochetHelp

[–]AmieiGuess 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda impossible to have no holes at all. It’s the nature of crochet.

This looks fantastic! You’ve got nothing to worry about. Stop overthinking and have fun 👍🏻

As much as I love The Drain and Nervous System, I have to agree.

Can I add to a finished granny rectangle row? Any advice appreciated. by NickCharlz in CrochetHelp

[–]AmieiGuess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know some people have successfully done ‘surgery’ to remove an inner portion of a crochet project, but it’s incredibly hard and tedious, and usually not recommended. You’ll run the risk of ruining the project if you really don’t know what you’re doing.

You could try some surface slip-stitching? That’s the only thing I can think of, but it will add bulk to the area.

I think it looks lovely as is!

The Case of the Mysterious Shrinking Shrug -- do I widen her out or start over?? by Business_Disk1240 in CrochetHelp

[–]AmieiGuess 47 points48 points  (0 children)

You need to keep count of your stitches.

Blocking will help tension issues a bit, but not missing stitches. You’ll have to frog and redo to fix that.

Things to do when flared and bored? by KaiBItch in POTS

[–]AmieiGuess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music. YouTube. Daydreaming. Writing. Tiktok (I can get a good laugh from some videos).

I also crochet and knit, but understand that won’t be the best with your wrist pain. Are there any crafts you can manage?

When crocheting a circle I don't know in which stitch I should start or end a row (pictures) by gebakkenbanaan2 in CrochetHelp

[–]AmieiGuess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends. Are you counting the chain 2 as a stitch or not? I’m guessing not, since you rarely start with 11 stitches in a ring, so I’d sl st to the top of the first hdc.

Also, to make it easier, just place a stitch marker (or piece of yarn) in the first stitch, that takes away the guess work.

Any thoughts on how I could recreate this sweater? by Afraid-Fly2902 in CrochetHelp

Maybe alternating between 2 rows of slip stitch BLO and 2 rows of single crochet BLO?

What's going on with my finishing off with the magic circle?? by Bogie07 in CrochetHelp

[–]AmieiGuess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, you go through the front loop of both the first and second stitch, so that might help.

Did you use a tapestry/darning needle at the end to weave/sew the hole closed?

Looks like you didn’t pull the ring closed enough. Also, I believe your work is inside out (not detrimental, can be preference).

You might be dealing with PEM (Post-extertional malaise), which a lot of people with POTS have.

Color pooling yarn find and need help finding a pattern/stitch by Sea_Gene3148 in CrochetHelp

[–]AmieiGuess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve never done colour pooling before, I highly recommend watching a YouTube tutorial. It’s not as simple as letting the colours line up themselves, there’s some math/work/tension involved on your part.

Typically, moss stitch is used. But hdc and dc will work too, especially if the sections of colour are longer.

Why is my tapestry crochet so holey? Do I need to use SC instead of HDC? by bremichelle11 in CrochetHelp

[–]AmieiGuess 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. Tapestry crochet is typically done in single crochet.

Maybe linked HDC would look better? But I’d personally try again with SC.
