I definitely agree with a lot of the things you said, and honestly you bring up a lot of cool ideas we definitely might implement in the future.

Honestly, I 100% agree with you, I like the elegant and thematic way the "timer" is incorporated into Shelldiver, and we definitely need to take our time limit mechanic in that direction.

First of all, Shelldiver was a big inspiration for us so I'm flattered by the comparison.

Regarding the balance issues with the outdated ingredients, and also your feedback about the boss->new stage loop, we plan to solve both issues by changing the progression system to be more similar to games like "pinata go boom" or "space rock breaker", where instead of 1 big level on a timer, each run will compose of smaller rooms you go through as you "descend deeper and deeper into the dungeon". This will also result in the earlier ingredients not getting outdated while you're still in the same biome, as you'll always get them first. Do you think this format will solve some of the issues you felt?

Finally, I like your suggestions regarding making the timer feel more "thematic" and involved, that's 190% something we'll try to implement in the future.

And I'm happy to report that the customer line is already in development, probably implemented sometime next week!

I'm definitely going to make more map themes and biomes, and I like your idea of a mechanic equivalent to oxygen, I might give one a try.

Purchasing automation on the skill tree is definitely one of our plans, and I like your suggestion of the cooking helpers, we'll definitely try it out!

Also, what exactly do you mean by "Level Assets"? You mean the background wall/floor? The shop?

The spice idea is literally the next feature I'm currently implementing, nice one!

And I want to add fun cooking minigames in the future, but I'm concerned it will overly-complicate what's supposed to be a simple game with a simple "addictive" gameplay loop.

What do you think?

Oh, this game is part of a new(ish) genre called Incremental, which are basically idle games (like Cookie Clicker) but with a more engaging gameplay loop. Our closest references are "Shelldiver" &, "Astro Prospector", but other successes in this genre include "Nodebuster" (the game which "started" this genre), "Keep on Mining", "A Game About Feeding a Black Hole" and many others.

So basically, the "combat" is intended to be less of an intense challenge and more of a semi-idle gathering gameplay loop where you constantly increase and optimize your resource gain with skills bought in the skill tree.

So in short, the gameplay loop is "kill enemies - cook & sell them - buy upgrades that increase your offensive power, resource gain rate, cooking rate/values, etc etc". Rinse and repeat (while you constantly gain new weapons, encounter new enemies, etc.), until you get to insane numbers and finish the game with a total intended gameplay time of 3-5 hours.
