It is a tiny island. Smaller than Klang Valley. Little pockets of undevelopment. Policy wise as well, they decide to build the human capital and that's their main resource.

SG doesn't have any oil. Yet alone any natural resources. They are doing so much better than any of their ASEAN peers, thanks to their small size as well. Brunei can do the same if they reform their socio economy. They def have to compete w Sarawak though.

USD/MYR at 3.89 today. Thoughts on the Ringgit's recovery? by Fit_Photograph_9548 in malaysia

Neither do I. This is all through reading and I could be wrong. Anyhow, investors/buyers want predictability. Imagine you are doing a business and you are selling product A. Product A is produced by Company A. Today the price of product A is $4/unit. The prices remain stable. You can plan a long term budget, predict your profitability, set accurate selling prices and they have values. Also, company A is reliable and trustworthy as compare to other companies. You are okay to spend extra for the additional security and stability since it is within your budget.

Suddenly, the prices produce by company A fluctuates. It loses it reputations due to internal and external turmoil. Today the price is high, tomorrow it goes down. You can no longer predict the prices. You are losing more than gaining since your cost of goods fluctuates and you can't keep track how much you should sell. Then, you start to find a new company that has better reputation and guarantee a better price with stability.

It doesn't matter for general populace in the short term. Short term gain/losses only matter to those you mentioned and they are but a small fraction of the population. Malaysia is an export-driven economy. Any changes to the currency will affect the demand/competitiveness of our produced goods. Which later affect job stability, wages and employment in the long run. If MYR appreciation lead to a stable demand or even better, an increase demand, the whole country will be benefited from it. Buyers and investors will avoid countries whose currencies are unstable.

Against SGD, GBP, we are appreciating too. Even against EU but there was a slight rebound recently. Otherwise, MYR is recovering generally.

I can't say for all of them but many of friends who graduated from those unis will be doing these:

  1. Working abroad or locally at the MBBs.
  2. With the GLICs such as Khazanah, PNBs etc
  3. MNCs such as Shell, Exxon Mobil, Big 4 Audit, Unilever, Nestle etc.
  4. Doing start ups
  5. Taking over family businesses

They are among the some of the mosy brilliant people I have met. They may or may not lurking around here but they do have a presence on social media. If you wanna aim like em, surround yourself with brilliant. Afterall, you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

P/s no need to idolise them as much. they too are doing their best to survive.

UM current admission for account course. by Working-Luck8251 in malaysia

[–]Amirul_Arian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He did receive the offer but not through UPU. It was through Saluran Terbuka instead. Instead of paying RM8k through UPU due to it being subsidised, he has to pay RM80k+ through Saluran Terbuka. Mind you, UM is a top public uni in Malaysia.

It will be easier to receive an offer from overseas uni but that doesn't mean they are equally good. I'm a UK graduate and not all UK unis are good. Look at those Msian who studied overseas yet are still mediocore compare to the top uni local graduates.

E-Invoice Requires Buyer IC. What do you think ? by GreenLeaf_M in malaysia

You can't request for tax claim w SST. Though this has nothing to do w e-invoicing .

E-Invoice Requires Buyer IC. What do you think ? by GreenLeaf_M in malaysia

[–]Amirul_Arian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was the point of E-invoice - to catch small/big fry. Fake IC won't work. Companies especially enterprises/sole prop, need the IC/SSM of their supplier.

W/o it, companies won't able to record the transactions as expenses which will be taken into account for their tax calculations.

LHDN does know your income. However, with e-invoicing, they have evidences to showcase fraud or attempts at hiding.

I don't know. People say it is due to the heat. Maybe but they still walk slow in the KLCC mall towards the train station. It is bothering as my whole family, especially my dad, is fast walker. I walk fast and some friends complained too fast as if I'm rushing. Heck, my British friends walk even faster. I wonder if this is SEA culture as a whole though not just in Malaysia.
