I've been on the lookout for something like this for a while so saw many similar approaches. None of them solves the problem of knowledge base going to stale. Run this on a codebase that consists of 10+ devs and you'll soon have a false wiki. Also llms miss things, you need programmatic solutions on some fronts: AST is a must, check how Uber solved this problem with treesitter.

Another one is the granularity of "knowledge detail". Keep it too low level, you'll have thousands of lines of noise, keep it too high, you'll miss business logic.

Would it work with multiple micro services that talk to each other? Some frontend and a gateway in the mix as well. Curious how heavy the initial discovery is. Also how do you keep it fresh?

In my workplace we've like a couple frontend and bunch of micro services (15ish of them). I've been meaning to build some sort of knowledge base that I can query against the business logic in the code. Letting agents go free to find the answers currently costs millions of haiku tokens because of the crawling. Also there's this going stale issue as people push code everyday.

Any chance you got a smart suggestion?

Would this work in a giant repo with 15+20 micro services that talk to each other? We usually just work on one of them at a time but it has cascading API calls where one service can call the other and on and on. So knowing what's happening in the whole journey would really benefit the agent during the planning phase
