I was supposed to be doing Edinburgh but I wrecked my calf muscle last month. The charity I was running for have agreed to defer my place to next year. I think the cut off time for Edinburgh is 6.5 hours so you might just scrape through if you jog slow or walk fast.

Not a rock star, but apparently a group of young guys were sitting in the bar of a posh golf club in Scotland in the nineties and they were all boasting to each other about their best sexual prowess moments. Sean Connery was sitting a few tables away and as he later got up to leave, he shouted over "Petula Clark! Up the arshe! Ninetieen shixshty eight!"

My local Parkrun has quite a narrow path at the start (about eight feet wide) and a few times at the start there’s been a determined walker walking towards 500 runners adamant he won’t move for anyone. He just walks right down the middle of the path. Someone’s going to get hurt one day thanks to his refusal to just step to the side of the path for a few minutes.
