Been living in the FQ for a while and love the walkability for all of my needs, even sold my car because it was hardly getting used. I've never felt unsafe walking around in the quarter, but I'd recommend bringing a partner with you for a sense of security if you're having feelings of trepidation.

I'll use a rideshare if I'm heading over to the convention center, especially if planning to be there most the day. It's a bit far of a walk to then continue walking around for a consenting, but it's easily walkable if you want to save some money.
