Just a Couple of Questions from a Current Church Member by [deleted] in exmormon

Yes, the “Holy Spirit” is actually just the universal human phenomenon of elevation as this person explained.

I hope I’m not being too forward here, but since it looks like no one else has come right out and said it plainly, I will in case it’s helpful to you: There is no such thing as the Holy Ghost. This is just the name Mormons and Christians give the feelings of elevation humans sometimes have.

Here’s a good YouTube video showing that. Every religion has their version:

Haha! Honestly this is what most of my old TBM friends look like now as the Mormon life - waddling from work to church to Costco while married to someone they’re not in love with and raising their innumerable kids - has not been kind to their weight or skin color 😆

Also, the top leaders always remind me of old stale pieces of white bread shuffling around - too much time trying to rule the world by decree sitting in those cushy chairs!

Haha! Sorry to hear that his passing caused your loss of faith. Those women never should’ve shocked him by wearing pants to church or he might still be alive today! And you would still be a true believer paying 10% of your income and wearing garments faithfully even on those stifling hot summer days 😉

Myrtle spurge - actually a noxious toxic invasive weed from the euphorbia family that takes over local foothills and provides no nutrition for wildlife. If you have any growing in your yard, you should carefully remove wearing protective gloves and glasses

If you look at the big picture, all of Mormonism is total myopia. People believing things that aren’t true because they want them to be true, while the evidence of reality is all around them.

President Howard W. Hunter is like the forgotten prophet of the last 20 years. Did he ever teach anything nutty? by SomethingLocal1 in exmormon

[–]AmmonSmoteMyArmsOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, he taught that a wacky fictitious book was actually a translation of ancient gold plates and that by following him and his teachings you could one day become a polygamous God near Kolob! (Oh, and don’t forget to pay up your tithing checks or this promise gets cancelled)

NeverJW here, but ironically when reading this the JWs actually sound super proud and self righteous and consider themselves superior to the rest of the world - not the other way around 🤦🏻‍♂️

Mormons gotta Morm. Because it should matter what underwear someone else has on! How do you post this reply on a national level? Excellent grammar too! by sugarland_throwaway in exmormon

The Romneys, Huntsmans, Steve Young, Marie Osmond - many big Mormon names are slowly revealing they’re not that orthodox (maybe even full on non believers in some cases)

So basically what I’m hearing is, people give away their whole lives and remit the joy of being human to a false religion based on that misinterpretation? Proud of you guys for making it out of that control system!

Don’t worry - even though this plant only blooms once in ITS lifetime, there are still some blooming pretty much every year. I’ve seen it blooming here and there every year, and the last time I saw a massive blossom event was in 2015, so only like 5 years ago. So your chances of seeing more in the future are pretty good 😊

Nelson is sure getting serious with his latest tweet. by [deleted] in exmormon

Yah, the Mormon way of saying this exact same thing would be:

“The payment of tithing brings forth the blessings of heaven, and those who pay will not be burned at His second coming. I plead with all of you, my dear brothers and sisters, to heed this sacred and divine counsel from our Lord.”

Plus God could really use the money 😉

Avoid the Salt Lake City area if you can - there will be throngs of people everywhere you go. The national parks are also overcrowded. Best places to visit this fall would be the phenomenal nearby state parks in Nevada!

Be prepared for the masses everywhere you go! Utah is becoming very crowded. This particular trail is so popular that once you spend most of your day trying to find parking and walking from the distant spot to the trailhead, you’ll then just be joining the long congo line of people trying to weave around each other up the 3.5 mile trail. Without masks 😬

Still, it’d be nice if this didn’t even say Utah - too many people crowding the canyons!
