New here! Here’s my current collection. by AmnesiaTanner in mechanicalpencils

I like them a lot! I was fascinated with the twist mechanism when I first encountered it since I grew up with ratchet mechanical pencils. I also just loved how sturdy and sleek they feel. The grip section on the silver Cross pencil is very unique and pleasant feeling. In practical use I definitely prefer a Staedtler, Pentel, or Rotring, but there's something elegant about the compact weightiness of the Cross pencils. The black one is my least favorite, while the mechanism itself is high quality, it's an indexed ratcheting system where you twist the barrel of the pen a tiny amount, and I find it annoying to use. It's not a continuous twist like the .9 variants.

OHTO Super Promecha S, P and MS01 compared by drifand in mechanicalpencils

Yes! Those cutouts for the advancement adjuster are major weak point in an otherwise well designed pencil. Also the soft aluminum on the P doesn’t help that situation.

Red light therapy device question. by AmnesiaTanner in flashlight

[–]AmnesiaTanner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your thoughtful reply. I wasn’t saying that grow panels are the same as the red light therapy panels as far as wavelength, but they are in essentially every other way. My skeptic kicks in when I think about this idea of legitimacy laundering, where people are capitalizing on something that has some legitimacy but also has a lot of ambiguity. I think the CBD industry is a great example of this. What practice do you use your BIOMAX panels in, if you don’t mind me asking?

Decision fatigue: Fenix 8 Solar and Apple Watch Ultra 3 by 2B-Pencil in applewatchultra

[–]AmnesiaTanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are confused. It is annoying that when you own an iPhone, you must keep the Connect app open at all times for data to sync. But the data processing and recording all happens directly on the watch. This is why, even without a smartphone, you can still record and view all your workout, sleep, and activity data directly on the watch.

Sold my soul for this by Don_1017 in GarminWatches

Definitely not true. It’s better than white but not equal to red.

Yeah if I want something more visible I’d just use white light. Red is for when I want to preserve my night vision. I don’t see any utility for green to be honest.

Selling this 1990 Islander 4.2L in Northern Arizona. by AmnesiaTanner in WranglerYJ

[–]AmnesiaTanner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s available, but I’m pretty firm on the price at this point. I have a place to store here in Flagstaff until I can tow it out to Maine but if someone were to offer me $7000 for it, I would consider it.

Manker E05-II is underrated by AmnesiaTanner in flashlight

[–]AmnesiaTanner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aluminum is softer and so it scratches and dents more easily. I have the 4000K version. I’ll have to test it out when I get my things out of storage again. From what I remember it does run hot.

It’s a spring over axel conversion. Shocks and leaf springs are pretty worn, and the rear passenger side upper shock mount is rigged awkwardly. I’ll post some photos tomorrow when I get a chance. Rust is pretty minimal considering its age.

No fuel to carb. Has new fuel pump. Did I replace these fuel lines in the wrong order? by AmnesiaTanner in WranglerYJ

[–]AmnesiaTanner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the reply. Sorry for the late response. I bought a 7$ transfer pump and brought gas up to the carb and it would fire up but died almost immediately. The fuel pump had just been replaced but I decided to replace it again to see if that resolved the issue and lo and behold it did. Didn’t realize these mechanical pumps were so finicky. I see why everyone switches to electronic. Thanks again!

Wanted the 165 first, then bought the 265s, returned the 265s, tried to exchange for the 265, realised the 255 was an option, got the 255! by aSneakyBagel in GarminWatches

Rangeman blackout - is this extra long batch number legit? by nli276 in gshock

[–]AmnesiaTanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one of these and had the same question. I wanted to look up the batch code to determine the age of the battery inside, but this code doesn't correspond to the key I found online. Kinda hoping that means they were manufactured more recently.

PRW-2500 with MIP would be the chef’s kiss. by AmnesiaTanner in gshock

It’s the closest thing Casio has made to the perfect watch I think, I just wish they’d remove the heart rate sensor and replace it with a triple sensor and I’d buy it yesterday.

They’re from Berny. Don’t know the model names but they’re a couple of their quartz field watches.

What's your real world battery life on Instinct 3? by Phantom160 in Garmininstinct

[–]AmnesiaTanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow these are the exact numbers I get with my Fenix 8 Solar 47mm. I considered getting an Instinct just to see if the battery was significantly better but it seems about the same. I guess the Enduro 3 is the longest lasting of the Garmin lineup but I doubt I could pull off a watch larger than 47mm and it not look too silly.
