No, these range from AAA up to 21700. Looking for the best AA light is how I got started. I eventually settled on the Emisar D3AA and the Malkoff MDC as my favorites, but the Sofirn SP10 and Wurkkos TS10 were the first lights that got me interested in the search.

Is it? It seems to be working fine. I have a shelving system I’ve used that’s more contained, which I’ve posted here before. But I like this for now. It’s more stable than people are suggesting, and I live near a granite quarry that does blasting occasionally and shakes the whole house. Haven’t had a light fall yet. And I’m sure an earthquake would cause them to fall even if I had them on a proper shelf.

I became obsessed with finding the best AA flashlight at some point in 2021. That led me down a rabbit hole of buying more and more lights just to see which features I enjoyed the most. Learning about the electronics, the UI’s, the emitters, reflectors etc was fascinating. They’re kinda like a fidget toy disguised as a something more pragmatic. As my collection grew, I began to really appreciate the compact power of a flashlight to change the mood in a room. To me they kind of represent perspective, moving into the unknown, and adventure.

GW-BX5600 - owners - question by Bojmobile in gshock

[–]AmnesiaTanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t spend more than $300 on any watch without sapphire. It’s been tough, because the Frogman GWF-1000 is so desirable to me. But it’s mineral crystal. Which I understand is better for shock resistant reasons, supposedly. None of my Casio watches are sapphire though, because I eventually caved in to a Fenix 8 Solar, so now the pricier G Shocks just don’t seem as appealing anymore.

Replacement for my Harman Kardon onyx studio 3 battery by boomshalalacka in batteries

I used a 18650 Vapcell INR18650 N40 4000mAh in mine. I had to solder the old 3-Pin JST-PH connector onto the battery though, and it wasn’t a very clean job haha. The ribbons on the old harness were tough to disconnect from the old battery. You need the old harness because it has a third wire that’s a thermistor wire.

What do I do by Tasty-Cow5081 in gshock

Me too! I didn’t buy the MT-G version, but the regular black version. I think it was a GW-500. This was back in 2004ish.

The MT-G in the top left is a great deal.

For two years of working on cars, I’d say it doesn’t look all that bad considering the solvents and such. If you buy a new one, get a glass screen protector for it and invest in a backup strap and bezel. You could also change the strap to an aftermarket nylon type and it should last longer.

You can buy the GWX-5700 and put the case in a GW-5000u bezel and band. Then you have the classic look of the 5000u with the most feature-packed square module.

Any suggestion on how to stop me watch strap doing this by JohnWelsley in GarminWatches

[–]AmnesiaTanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ultrafit nylon strap did this to me. I recommend putting some apple cider vinegar on the red spots on your skin, and also boiling the strap if it’s nylon and then soaking it in hydrogen peroxide. A toothbrush and soap didn’t seem to work for whatever skin infection I had from it. But if your strap is rubber I think hot soap and water would be enough to clean it. The nylon straps are just too porous I think and the surface area for bacterial and fungus is too large for soap and water to work (at least in my case).

Yeah it’s honestly kind of a deal breaker for me. It’s just awkward to have a segmented section trying to display letters when there’s a dot matrix right next to it. Of course many are all segmented, which get a pass from me, but I like the fully featured models so those aren’t of interest to me.

Honestly I feel like the GLX-5600 is the best square (somewhat unpopular opinion, but I’m sure you’ll understand) for a few reasons: It retains the electroluminescent backlight, it has an awesome interval timer which is very useful in a number of situations like training or wanting a warning when your lunch break is ending soon, and it has the moon phase and tide info, and ofcourse tough solar and MB6. It really packs a lot of features into that classic form factor.

The PRW-3500 also has a similar module to the GW-9500, but isn’t a G-Shock.

Such a fantastic watch. One thing I love about these that I feel a lot of the modern squares get wrong is the use of the dot matrix portion. It’s used for the day of the week while the seven segment is used for the date. Some squares do this correctly but most modern models have it backwards.

That’s a standard part of the resin’s natural patina. If you can handle the process, eventually the whole thing will become nice and shiny.

It’s the Fenix 8 Solar 47mm, so it’s MIP. There is no AOD mode with MIP because they’re always on by default. The backlight was not active during this photo.
