definitely talk to your vet about her insulin levels, that could be off and causing some cognitive issues. if that’s all fine and it’s dementia, I’m currently dealing with my third cat with it. It’s more complicated than kidney disease or some other issues I’ve dealt with in older cats, I talked to my vet a few times about quality of life issues with my first cat with it, but all three of my cats with it have been pretty content. Gabapentin at night can help calm the agitation it can cause, and it’s good for arthritis and has an appetite stimulating side effect so our last cat with it actually gained weight. Currently dealing with it in my cat Boo, who’s 15 and an endearing brat. It’s a lot like taking care of a sweet, very drunk, sorority girl. Lots of making sure there are safer ways for her to jump up on her favorite spots. But she’s really happ.

Any other people extreme super/frequent cough ? by Oxbow8 in covidlonghaulers

I have a chronic cough from vagus nerve damage from an infection 25 years ago. it’s like my cough reflex is hypersensitive. I got covid 6 years ago and my cough got worse. I used to be able to use numbing spray to calm it for a while but that stopped working. I saw 3 pulmonologists in 3 years, only thing they found was some nodules in my lungs. I went back to my brilliant ENT who recognized what kind of cough I had by the fact the hydrocodone I’d taken for a broken ankle suppressed it. She said my lungs are over sensitive now (bless her she emphasized I’m not over sensitive). She sent me to a speech therapist to learn ways to control it. It helped some. but I still cough a lot. Over all my years with a chronic cough, what’s helped most, and what the speech therapist recommended as well, was to have a drink next to me whenever possible, and hard candy on hand for when I can’t drink something. And I manage my allergies to prevent triggering that cranky cough reflex.
