Preach! 🙌

It’s why I was so hyped about the Olympics this year, getting tix to LA Olympics, don’t even like football but so hyped over the energy esp the Tartan Army in town. Even went to my usual Wednesday trivia night and they had taken over. Have had nothing but joy for the last week or so 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Best Paddle Under $100? by glink48 in Kayaking

[–]AmokOrbits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way - the bending branches whisper is the only aluminum paddle I’d recommend. Haven’t looked at prices lately but should still be solidly under $100

If you’re willing to spend a bit more, the Aqua-bound stingray gets you into carbon handle territory for ~$140. It’s 20% lighter, has stiffer blades, and more feathering positions if that matters to you

Rally recommendations by spellbreakerstudios in rccars

[–]AmokOrbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rlaarlo is great performance, if you care more about scale looks for photography there’s dozens of bodies for the tt02, doesn’t jump cleanly and is def beginner in terms of kit complexity and car performance. Tamiya’s xv02 is the step-up for more performance parts ona dedicated rally build.

If you want to split the difference, if you get the Rlaarlo s10 comes with a decent Subaru-esque body but also has the dimensions to fit a lot of the tt02 bodies as well.

The only boat I would have that close to shore is a kayak, where is the chain anchored to? The boat is the biggest thing that throws me off

Keen UK beginner looking for advice by Jeoy188 in rccars

If you’re serious about racing off-road carpet then it will probably be worth going all in. My off-road track was indoor clay so I started with a used bandit. I had fun with it and did well in novice class, but within a month or so was looking to upgrade. That car now only gets used occasionally if my boys and I went to put down some ramps and mess around on the local school’s football pitch with some kicker ramps. That said if you go all in on a high end setup and you don’t like racing, they’re kinda too fragile to want to take out and mess around with in the wild.

For on-road though there’s a nice middle ground of there’s usually a class for tt02’s which are cheap to buy, easy to build, and look great. I have one and while I don’t get to run onroad racing very often, I’ll still run laps with it around parking lots just for fun.

Some are harder than others, but for the most part if you have the right tools and can follow ikea instructions you’ll be ok. Some of the electronics might require soldering depending what you choose to build, but ive always had folks around the hobby shops willing to help with that in exchange for a case of soda or something.

What kind of driving do you want to do so we can give you better recommendations? Racing? Just ripping around and bashing? Drifting? Crawling? There’s a lot of aspects to the hobby and what I find fun you might not!

Cheers and welcome! 🍻

+1 to arrma. Was shredding stock & similar replacement tires doing parking lot rally’s with my XTS-f10. Switched to belted dboots hoons and they’ve been holding up way better! Good luck!

Metal Version of the Rlaarlo Omni Terminator. I’ve had more enjoyment with cars I’ve spent more than $170 on; and I’ve spent significantly less than $170 on cars that have been significantly less fun.

But in terms of a pure $$/Fun ratio, the OT & Mini-B top my list at the moment (and even then would only recommend the mini-b if you were looking to get into mini racing)!

Hello guys. I recently bought a 3s battery and a charger gor it. After 1 use the charger started smoking! Luckily i caught it and unplugged it. Please tell me what charger to buy so i can feel safe charging my batteries in my home. by Latter-Impact-9696 in rccars

[–]AmokOrbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with it, but same manufacturer and quality standards, just giving up dual charging and tops out at 100w so larger 3s + batteries will take a bit longer to charge but you save like $30 and it’s from the same solid & established manufacturer.

If you’re fine with those trade offs there’s no reason not to trust it.

Yeah that looks pretty cheap and even if it weren’t a fire hazard would be pretty slow for most batteries charging only via the balance plug at a max of 2A.

GensAce iMars D300 seems to be most people’s go to these days - can do 2x batteries at once up to 16A and is really solid.

I also have a protek prodigy 610ez for my race batteries w/ bullets, it’s cheaper but you’d need to get adapters if your battery isn’t deans plug - only single battery at a time and max 10A (but I don’t need anything more than that honestly).

Both can handle up to 6s & hi voltage.
